This was a close match all the way to the end and was decided on team medal being won by 2 strokes.  Disappointing for my team since we put up a heck of a battle and got out bested by Team Donlin.  All players in this match should be commended for some really good play.

Some of the highlights of this match:

Ray Vaughn gets 6 pars and shoots a 38 (2.8 under his average) vs. Don Buescher’s birdies on hole #2 & #3 shooting a 43 (.6 over his average and was getting 1 stroke).  Ray wins medal by 4 strokes.

Jimmy Smith shoots a 46 with 2 pars (.9 under his average & getting 4strokes) vs. Mike Donlin’s 43 with 3 pars (1.0 over his average).   Jimmy wins by 1 stroke.

Charlie Halpin gets a birdie on hole #5 and shoots a 47 (2.9 under his average) vs. Steve Duddey’s 41 (1.7 under his average and giving 6 to Charlie).  This one was a tie on medal points.

Rafael Gonzalez shoots a 44 (7.1 under his average) vs. Matt Donlin’s 43 with a birdie on #1 (5.9 under his average and giving 2 to Rafael).  Rafael wins medal by 1.

In the end it was close with Team C. Halpin getting most individual medal points but Team Donlin getting overall team medal points by 2 strokes decided the match in Team Donlin’s favor.  Congratulations to both teams for some wonderful play and great sportsmanship.  I did go over and over this one looking for those 2 strokes and my whole team did the same on their game (the missed putt, the lost ball, etc.) but with the way everyone played this team Team Donlin had to work hard to win it.

Next for Team Donlin will be the Finals.

This match was completed on the back nine and seemed like an endurance match to see who would last the longest and survive, with Team Donlin being the victor.  Individual match points were close on this, 35 to 37 with team medal deciding the match.  Again both teams should be commended for good play and finishing strong.

Some of the highlights of this match:

Bill Zachritz shoots a 41 with 5 pars (.5 over his average) vs. Ray Vaughn’s 42 with a birdie on #12 & 4 pars (1.2 over his average).   This match could have been different since Ray lost 3 balls on #17 and took a nine on the hole, but came back on 18 with a par.  Bill wins by 1 stroke.

Mike Donlin shoots a 43 (1.0 over his average) vs. Mark Caporale’s 46 (3.7 over his average).  Mike wins this match by 3strokes.

Steve Duddey shoots a 40 with a birdie on #14 and 4 pars (2.7 under his average) vs. Will Freeman’s 49 (4.6 over his average and getting 1 stroke from Steve).  Steve wins medal by 8 strokes.

Donna Caporale shoots a 42 with 4 pars (3.8 under her average) vs. Matt Donlin’s 49 (.1 over his average and getting 3 from Donna).  Donna wins match by 4 strokes.

Final results Team Donlin wins team medal by 6 strokes and match.
