Carts:

Every week I will post this about carts and fees.

Green fees and cart fees are still being paid by the League Treasurer Chuck Reckers.  For those okay with riding 2 in a cart with teammates that is now acceptable and preferred.   For those who said they will walk but wish to change to walk front and ride back or ride both sides, you need to let the League Treasurer Chuck Reckers know by Tuesdays 6 p.m. so he can update his records and notify the course on number of carts we will need.  Also, if you are having a sub that is different on walk or ride you need to let Chuck know about that.

League Outing:

Scheduled for September 11, A.J. Jolly Golf Course.

Tentative tee times were sent to all players.  Currently we have 51 players

Golf, Cart, Goodie bag, Lunch, and Beverages will be $67.

Skins - $5 and Greenies - $3   (greenies notate it on scorecard and name will be drawn for the winner).

Flight winners, Skins, and Greenie winners will be paid by check in the mail.

Payment update from Treasurer Chuck Reckers is that out of 51 golfers attending 28 have paid, with 17 prepaying for the Skins/Greenies.  Chuck sends his thanks to those that paid.  Please either send your payment to Chuck Reckers: 5641 Glen Oak, Mason, OH  45040 or bring to the course on Wednesday, September 2.  (Checks will not be cashed until September 12.)

Chuck’s words “Please either send your payment to my home address or bring payment to the course on September 2.  Prepayment of the game costs is more than welcome and makes the golfers day at AJ Jolly simpler.  Show up and tee off.”

Hear ye, Hear ye.  League secretary and rules committee is accepting applications/candidates for League Officer positions.

Up for grabs:

League Secretary – This position is highly recognizable and requires extraordinarily little experience at anything.  Get well compensated for doing weekly data, keeping a small amount of records, and having plenty of time to golf once a week.   Work for a prestigious league with nothing but the best of working/playing conditions with some of the most wonderful people.  Send in your candidate names to League Rules Committee no later than as soon as possible.

Division Standings:

A Division:  Team Schumacher with a good win held 1st place and the #4 Seed.  Team Anderson with a big win moved up to second and into the #5 Seed.  Team Bramlage moved down to 3rd place and out of seeding by 2.5 points.  Team Kiffmeyer fizzled and out of contention.

B Division:  Team Flynn with a good win held 1st place and luckily was awarded the #2 Seed (tied points with Team Kientz).  Team Halpin comes in second and missed seeding by a half point (come on a half point).  Team Leirey with a win moved up to 3rd and Team Buescher down to 4th with both out of contention.

C Division:   Team Kientz held 1st and unluckily awarded the #3 Seed (tied points with Team Flynn).  Team Breen moved up to 2nd and still needed a couple of more weeks while Team Zachritz dropped to 3rd.  Team Harms locked in last in the league.

D Division:  Team Pfeiffer held their 1st place in the league and #1 Seed.  Team Bachmann held 2nd place and barely held the #6 Seed (half point over Team Halpin and 2.5 points over Team Bramlage).  Team Vaughn moved up to 3rd and Team Sue&Sherrill dropped to 4th.

Seeding:

Big and final change in seeding was Team Anderson jumping into seeding and Team Bramlage getting knocked out.

Number 1 Seed – Team Pfeiffer

Number 2 Seed – Team Flynn

Number 3 Seed – Team Kientz

Number 4 Seed – Team Schumacher

Number 5 Seed – Team Anderson

Number 6 Seed – Team Bachmann

Position Round 3 Secretary Predictions/Results:

·        A Division - secretary predicts that Team Schumacher gets 40 points vs Team Bramlage gets 50 points and Defending League Champions Team Kiffmeyer gets 75 points and takes the division lead.  This knocks Team Bramlage out of seeding and drops Team Schumacher to #6 Seed.

Results:  Wow missed most of this as Team Schumacher got 65.5 points to maintain the #4 Seed.  Then Team Anderson got 77 points to knock Team Kiffmeyer completely out.  At least I got it right that Team Bramlage would get knocked out of seeding.

·        B Division - secretary predicts Team Halpin takes 78 points over Team Flynn and moves into division lead and knocking Team Flynn out of seeding.

Results:  Really got this wrong as Team Flynn got 56 points and Team Halpin comes up a half point short of seeding.

·        C Division - secretary predicts Team Zachritz pulling in a massive 87 points over Team Kientz to only miss by 1 stroke from taking the lead away from Team Kientz.  Team Harms defeats Team Breen and ends any hope of a seeded position.

Results:  Got this all wrong as Team Kientz gets 63.5 points to hold their seeding and Team Breen brought in a 53.5 win over Team Harms.

·        D Division - secretary predicts Team Pfeiffer vs Team Bachmann to be the biggest slug fest with Team Bachmann (and an ever clear mind) with a 77 point win but falling short of 1st place but keeping a seeded position.

Results:  Maybe I got part of this right.  From what I heard seems that Team Pfeiffer pulled out the big guns to defeat Team Bachmann and hold their #1 Seed as Team Bachmann barely held the #6 Seed.

o   Who will make the play-offs?

§  Received 3 responses and all missed by one team. At least that was better than my predictions.

o   Who will be the League Champion?

§  Secretary predicts that in the Wild Card play-off Team Kientz will defeat Team Bachmann and Team Anderson (shirts) will defeat Team Schumacher. Leading to Team Pfeiffer vs Team Anderson and Team Flynn vs Team Kientz.  Another tough prediction but I will go with the Final being Team Pfeiffer vs Team Flynn with Team Pfeiffer taking the championship.

§  As before, hopefully, my predictions are correct, however if anyone would like to try and pick who the league champion will be, I have a dozen very well experienced golf balls for whomever can guess correctly.  More than one we will have a drawing for the winner.  Send to halpinc@aol.com by August 31.
