These results are not reflective of the individual matches.  Team Flynn put up one heck of a battle all the way to the end.  From the start I would have put my money of Team Flynn winning this, and they played like they wanted it.  All players in this match shot under their averages and should be commended for some really good play.  But in the end there was no hanging chad for Team Flynn.

Some of the highlights of this match:

Jim Westcott gets birdie’s on holes #6 & #8 (boogies on #5 & #7) and shoots a 35 (4.4 under his average) vs. Jim Grassinger’s sole birdie on hole #7 shooting a 41 (1.6 under his average and was getting 3 strokes).

Cecil Begley after coming off a terrible round in the play-offs shoots a 43 (2.8 under his average) making two 40+ foot putts to par the holes vs. Dick Flynn’s sole birdie on hole #4 shooting a 43 (2.1 under his average and giving 1 to Cecil).

Chuck Reckers gets a birdie on hole #2 and shoots a 43 (2.9 under his average) vs Roger Hatton’s 44 (1.2 under his average and giving 1 to Chuck).

Erich Kientz shoots a 44 (2.3 under his average) vs. Tom Nienaber’s 44 (2.1 under his average and missed an easy putt on #9) (this one could have been different if Tom made his 1st putt on #9) however this one was a tie.

In the end it was close but with Team Kientz getting most individual medal points and overall match points left no room for any hanging chads for Team Flynn.    Congratulations to both teams for some wonderful play and great sportsmanship.

Next for Team Kientz will be Team Zachritz in the Semi-Finals.

Here was another match that everyone shot under their average making this a battle to the end.  In fact there was some thunder sounds that I thought was a storm now I think it was coming from this match.  The last hole was completed with a heavy rain coming down but both teams stuck with it and completed the match.  Both teams should be commended for some good play.

Some of the highlights of this match:

Ray Vaughn shoots a 39 (1.8 under his average) with a Birdie on #5 and gets beat by Lee Crouch shooting a 38 with a Birdie on #9 and getting 2 strokes from Ray.  Lee wins by 3.

Mike Donlin shoots a 37 (5.0 under his average) no Birdies here vs. George Baker shooting a 44 (3.0 under his average) and getting 4 strokes from Mike.  Mike wins this one by 3.

Steve Duddey shoots a 37 with Birdies on #3 & #4 (5.7 under his average) vs. Pat Breen shooting a 47 (1.5 under his average) and getting 5 strokes from Steve.  Steve wins this one by 5 strokes.

Dan Varndell (subbing for Steve Ruehl) shoots a 43 (.4 under his average) versus Dave Spaeth shooting a 50 (1.8 under his average) and getting 7 from Dan.  This one was a tie.

Final results Team Donlin wins match but really had to work hard at it.

Next for Team Donlin will be Team C. Halpin in the Semi-Finals.
