IRS Wednesday Golf
League Newsletter
Week
17 – August 16, 2023
It happened
again this week. Team Vaughn pulled out
another win, this time vs the Vacant team.
From everything I have been hearing from some of the longer playing league
members, this is a record for the league.
With one more week of regular season (position round), here’s hoping
they can keep their streak going.
DIVISION
STANDINGS/SEEDING (and Some Thoughts for the Weak):
A
Division has Team Crouch
(#4 Seed) taking the lead. Team Kientz
drops to 2nd (39.5 points out of lead). Team
Zachritz (Forked) in 3rd place (63.5 points from the lead). Team Broadus (Forked) in 4th place (too far
out).
Position Round
can decide the Division winner here as Team Kientz would have to score 65+
points vs Team Crouch. No Wild Card from
this Division.
B
Division has Team Flynn (#2
Seed) holding their lead. Team Harms (#5
Seed) in 2nd place (62 points off the lead). Team Buescher (#6 Seed) in 3rd
place (66 points off the lead). Team
Halpin (Forked) in 4th.
Position Round
here could be tricky as Team Harms would have to score 77 points to take the
lead from Team Flynn. For Team Buescher
to keep a Wild Card spot depends on the results of Team Crouch and Team Kientz
in A Division unless they score big vs Team Halpin.
C
Division has Team Bachmann
(#3 Seed) in the lead. Team Bramlage (Forked)
in 2nd (83.5 points from the lead, 82.5 points away from a Wild Card spot). Team Kiffmeyer (Forked) in 3rd and Team Bill
Anderson (Forked) in 4th (both too far out).
Position Round
here Team Bramlage would have to score 87 points vs Team Bachmann (????). For a wild card spot Team Bramlage would have
to score big and Team Buescher very low score.
D
Division still has the unbeatable Team Vaughn (#1 Seed) locked in for League
lead, the Division lead, and top Seed. Team
Brian Anderson (Forked) in 2nd and Team Snowden (Forked) in 3rd
place (way, way far out) with no playoff hopes.
Position round
here puts Team Vaughn vs Team Brian Anderson, who will prevail?
Seeding
summary:
#1 Seed – Team Vaughn
#2 Seed – Team Flynn
#3 Seed – Team Bachmann
#4 Seed – Team Crouch
#5 Seed – Team Harms
Wild
Card Playoffs (scheduled for August 25th)
Tee
times for August 25th Wild Card Teams: #3 Seed vs #6 Seed and #4 Seed
vs #5 Seed are at 11:12 a.m., 11:21 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 11:39 a.m., front
nine. Individual members need to pay for
this at the course. Reminder on our
league rules on subs during the playoffs:
Play-Off teams may have one sub that
has completed at least 3 rounds on the front and back nine during the current
season.
Semi-Finals/Finals:
(August 30th)
Tee
times for Semi-Finals are front nine at 12:06 p.m., 12:15 p.m., 12:24 p.m., and
12:33 p.m. with Finals on back nine at 3:06 p.m. & 3:15 p.m. Semi-final tee times are paid by the league,
teams continuing into the Finals and teams moving on to the Scramble need to
pay for the extra nine holes. Reminder
on our league rules on subs during the playoffs: Play-Off
teams may have one sub that has completed at least 3 rounds on the front and
back nine during the current season.
League
Scramble: (August 30th)
Tee
times for Scramble start at 2:39 p.m. every 9 minutes through 4:36 p.m. (14 tee
times). Scramble format will be team
event, procedures will be out to the team captains this coming week. Teams not in the semi-finals tee times are
paid by the league.
Team Flight Scramble Format:
Scramble players will play with their IRS
league team (subs with an average are eligible). There will be 3 flights with first and second
place awarded in each flight. Monetary
awards of $20 per man for first place and $10 per man for second place. If a
team only has three players, they will not be awarded the missing player
winnings.
Flight 1 will have 5 teams, Flight 2 and Flight
3 will have 4 teams. Flights will be
developed on total team averages (adding all players averages on the front 9 together).
Flight 1 will have the top 5 teams based
on total averages. Flight 2 will have
the next 4 teams based on total averages. Flight 3 will have the last 4 teams based on
total averages.
The flights will be determined after all the
team scramble members have been set.
This may happen on the night of the scramble at the course since subs
may change the rankings of the teams. If
a team has less than 4 players, the average of the three remaining players averages
will be used to determine the missing player average. The team with the missing player will rotate
the 4th shot.
The scramble format will be to play the Best Ball
from each location tee through the green.
The Skins, Greenie, and Long Putt contests
will be $20 per team for all teams who wish to participate. No exception to this amount. The Skins, Greenie, and Long Putt winners will
be determined on all the teams participating and not on a flight basis. If no skins are awarded the skin money will
be added to the Greenie and Long Putt pot on a basis of two-thirds two Greenie
and one-third to Long Putt.
