League Scramble:

League Scramble is scheduled for August 30 (this is a prepaid week).  Format this year will be same as last year, 2 player scramble.   Players will be divided up into A, B, C, and D.  A & D would hit their drives then play their best ball, B & C player would hit their drives then play their best ball, two scores (A&D low score and B&C low score) would be posted for each hole.

Prior to setting up the teams please let Charlie Halpin know if you have a preference on an early tee time or a late tee time.  Teams will be set up after play on August 23.

If any regular cannot make the Scramble and wants a sub, let us know who the sub is so we can put the sub on a team.  Tee time schedule will not be out until after the last position round.

Scramble tee times start at 2:45 then every 9 minutes through 4:42.

 Outing info:

Treasurer Chuck Reckers is taking Outing payments (checks will not be cashed until September 9).  Pouches will be in the briefcase.  Chuck would like to have all the payments in by August 30.

League Outing is scheduled for September 8, 2017, at A.J. Jolly Golf Course.  Shotgun start at 10 a.m.  Cost this year will be the same as last year.  Caterer will be the same (menu will be Steak, Chicken Breast, Salad, Sides, and Dessert) cost is also same as last year.  Golf fee includes golf, cart, beverages, lunch, and door prizes.

·        Regulars – Golf and Dinner:  $70.00; Golf only: $55.00

·        Subs/Guest – Golf and Dinner: $80.00; Golf only: $65.00

·        Skins - $5.00, Greenies - $3.00, Long Putts - $2.00

SUBS:

This week we had 5 subs:  Izzy Jewell (for Team Kiffmeyer), Mary Jo Leirey (for Team Pfeiffer), Brian Kelly (for Team Anderson), Dave Spaeth (for Team Breen), Cindy Ellsworth (for Team Halpin).  Thanks for being there.

Good rounds this week were:

Front – Bill Zachritz – 39.

Back – Kevin Bachmann – 34, Ray Vaughn – 38.

Sandbaggers of the Weak: (5.0 greater or less):

Most Under Average:

Charlie Patmann shoots 43 (6.2 under average), Chuck Reckers shoots 40 (5.7 under average).

Most Over Average:

Dave Spaeth shoots 74 (11.1 over average), Tom Marsh shoots 54 (7.3 over average), Bill Clark shoots 56 (7.1 over average), Ken Thoerner shoots 56 (6.7 over average), Dick Flynn shoots 51 (5.6 over average).

Status of the Almighty Fork:

Week 6 - Team Schumacher.

Week 9 – Team Freeman, Team Patmann, Team Breen.

Week 13 – Team Buescher.

Week 17 – Added this week with slim or no hopes are Team Halpin, Team Kiffmeyer, Team Flynn, and Team Pfeiffer.

Division Standings:

o   Division A still has Defending Champs Team Bramlage in the lead but dropping to #3 seed.  Team Kiffmeyer is closing in on the lead (14.5 points out).  Team Schumacher comes in third and out of play-off contention.  Team Patmann brings in 4th and 2nd place on the upside down list.

o   Position Round could see a change here as Team Bramlage would have to score 38+ points vs. Team Kiffmeyer to hold the lead.  From experience last year Team Kiffmeyer squeaked in by one stroke to take Division title (can they do it again?).

o   Division B has Team Kientz increasing their lead and holding the #4 seed (Team Captain Mr. Erich Kientz was back to command the win.).  Team Flynn holds 2nd place (70.5 points out of the lead).  Team Pfeiffer comes in third, Team Buescher 4th, both out of play-off contention.

o   Position Round here would probably not see any change as Team Kientz would have to not show up for Team Flynn to take the title.  Team Flynn would need 81 points vs. Team Kientz to take the division title.

o   Division C has Team Anderson (The Shirts) with a commanding lead and holding the #1 Seed.   Team Vaughn moved up to the #5 seed and 77.5 points out of 1st place.  Team Harms drops to the # 6 seed (with a 52.5 point lead over the next closest teams for seeding).  Team Freeman regained their top place on the upside down list.

o   Three of the hottest teams here, probability is the 2 wild card teams are here.  Team Anderson has a 77.5 point lead and Team Donlin would have to score 84+ to take the lead away from the Shirts.  Team Harms to lock in the #6 seed only needs 10+ points to hold and if Team Vaughn falters a big score by Team Harms could put them back to #5 seed and Team Vaughn to the #6 seed.

o   Division D has Team Leirey holding the lead and moving up to the #2 seed.  Team Slye moved up to 2nd place (27 points out of the lead) as Team Halpin falls to 3rd (72.5 points out) and looks like the secretary Forked them.   Team Breen comes in 4th and looking forward to  the Scramble.

o   Position round here could see some hot competition as Team Slye would have to score 59+ points to take the division title away from Team Leirey.  Team Halpin is hoping for a miracle, they would need to score 85+ points while Team Leirey only scores 31 points, and Team Slye only 59 points, anything different and it is on to the Scramble for Team Halpin.

-         Wild Card Play-offs are on August 25 (tee times will be set up at end of position round), #3 Seed vs. #6 Seed and #4 Seed vs. #5 Seed.

Current Seeding:

1.     Team Anderson

2.     Team Leirey

3.     Team Bramlage

4.     Team Kientz

5.     Team Vaughn

6.     Team Harms

Heard in the Clubhouse:

Something about Mr. Clyde Barnes failing the Uber driver test.  My thoughts here is he can always try again next week.   Or was this another assassination attempt on Mr. Prez. (too much heat).

Then there was something said about the League President’s clubs.  My thoughts here is Mr. Z must have had something to do with it and not the Uber driver.

Did I hear that right, Mr. Gene Pfeiffer putting his name if for Secretary 2018.  Getting to be a big field (Mr. Pfeiffer, Mr. Bram-la-ge, and Mr. Kiff.).  Is there anyone else out there?  Mr. ??

Spotted on #18 just off the green was a SKUNK.  This is the second time that one has been spotted on the course.  Honestly, this was a real skunk and not Mr. Anderson.

The black (OJ) glove was not claimed.  Two Calaway gloves showed up from the course staff (left on a cart) this week.  All three were turned in to the course and can be claimed there if they fit.

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt.  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.

____________________________________________________________________________Mr. Z. I am at a loss for words.  But if you could keep donating to the Skins/Greenies/Long Putt many others will be happy.  As always, this paragraph may or mostly may not have many or sometimes no errors, or more errors than you can count.   Read at your own risk, especially this line as some have suffered severe eye strain… or loss of motion from falling over laughing…or severe shock…From last count only a couple of people read this.  My thoughts are I could put more thoughts here but I am at a loss for thoughts.  Just trying to see if anyone reads this.
