IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 16 – August 9, 2023

Let’s start this out with an update on Team Vaughn.  This week as Ray Vaughn and Steve Duddey finished their round and came into the clubhouse and reported that they both had lost by one stroke and thought their team’s winning streak was over.  Preliminary news from Eddie Gregory (D player) was not good (tied).  Then they got Tom Berns (C player) results, and amazingly he won by 6 strokes.  Team Vaughn’s winning streak continues and with only 2 weeks left in the regular season, the question is:  can they go all the way?  Up next for Team Vaughn is the Vacant team, then position round.

Continuing reminder on the schedule containing two tee times for the teams versus the Vacant team.  All tee times following Team 12 on the regular schedule will be moved up one time earlier.  This will be posted on the website each week on the newsletter tab for the following week and will also be sent via e-mail.

DIVISION STANDINGS/SEEDING (and Some Thoughts for the Weak):

A Division has Team Kientz (#4 Seed) in the lead but only by 6.5 points over Team Crouch in 2nd.   Team Zachritz (Forked) moved up to 3rd place (66 points from the lead).  Team Broadus dropped to 4th (84.5 points from the lead) and got Forked this week.  With two weeks left either Team Kientz or Team Crouch will be the leader with one having a very slim chance for a wild card spot. The secretary thoughts are Team Zachritz does not have an I in team, however the only I’s are in Bill Zachritz.  P.S. thanks for the beer.

B Division has Team Flynn (#2 Seed) holding their lead.  Team Harms moved up to 2nd place and #5 Seed (62 points off the lead). Team Buescher dropped to 3rd place and #6 Seed (4 points from 2nd place and 66 points off the lead).  And lastly Team Halpin (Forked) in 4th (looking forward to the Scramble).  With two weeks left the question is: can Team Buescher or Team Harms take the lead away from Team Flynn?  And can both Wild Card teams come from this Division.

C Division has Team Bachmann (#3 Seed) in the lead.  Team Bramlage (Forked) in 2nd (83.5 points from the lead, 82.5 points away from a Wild Card spot).  Team Kiffmeyer (Forked) in 3rd (134.5 points away from lead).  Team Bill Anderson (Forked) in 4th (way overdone).   With two weeks left Team Bachmann looks to have this division won and Team Bramlage would have to have a couple of enormous wins to make the division or wild card.

D Division has the unbeatable Team Vaughn (#1 Seed) in the lead and locked in for the Division lead and top Seed).  Team Brian Anderson (Forked) in 2nd (126.5 points away from a wild card spot) and Team Snowden (Forked) in 3rd place (133 points away from a wild card spot) (no playoff hope for either).

Only 2 weeks remaining with the possibility of 180 points up for grabs.  A Division, B Division, and C Division could still see some changes to division leaders and wild card spots.  D Division is locked.
