Texas Scramble is scheduled for August 21.  We need to know which regulars/subs are going to play in the scramble so we can set up the teams and tee times.  Let me know by August 14 who is going to play in the scramble, e-mail reply to halpinc@aol.com.   Also, the free golf passes cannot be used for the scramble, and payment of $15.50 will be due to Chuck Reckers (checks payable to IRS Golf League), not to the course.

Outing:

Team Anderson is still planning and putting together the information for the Outing this year.  The date is Friday, September 6, with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Power carts will be included in the cost of the outing, as well as sandwiches at the turn and beverages on the course. Catering will be provided with the usual menu or equivalent.  Games and events for the outing will be announced at a later time.  Please get the word out to all your subs that might be interested in playing to contact Brian or e-mail me at halpinc@aol.com.

Below is the cost for the IRS Golf League fall outing on September 6 at A.J. Jolly:

Regular member

Golf only - $50

Golf & dinner - $65

Subs & Guests

Golf only - $60

Golf & dinner - $75

Drinks on the course and at the clubhouse are included, as well as 2 sandwiches per person at the turn.

There are 63 regulars who have credit balances that will impact the amount they owe. In addition, Chuck Reckers will gladly accept payments from the regulars/subs in August.  Payments can be put in the league briefcase.  This will keep the line to a minimum at A.J. Jolly.

There will be money games for those that want to participate in them:

- Skins $5

- Closest to the pin $3 (all three par-3 holes)

- Long putt $2 (on two holes)

If you want to participate in all games, its $10 total. You can pick and choose which ones you want to participate in. If paying ahead of time and are not in all of them, include a note as to which games you want in on.  The only other money collected during the outing will be for split the pot. Tickets will be available for purchase that day - $1 each or 6 for $5.  Whatever monies are collected from ticket sales will be split between the winning number drawn and the league.  Must be present to win.  Additional games and of course door prizes will be included in the outing at no additional charge.  These will be communicated to the participants at the course that day.

Any Regulars/Subs still wishing to play that haven't responded yet, please contact Brian Anderson, at 859-669-3123 or by e-mail at Brian.L.Anderson@irs.gov

HEADLINES

Wow what one week can do to the Standings.  Inner division play has put some teams in for some heated play this coming week.

Division A still has Team Zachritz commands 1st place in Division and still #2 seed.  Team Kiffmeyer (*) showed some life this week and moved up to 2nd place and into a wild card position.  Team Flynn dropped to 3rd and Team Leirey (*) dropped to 4th but both are still in contention for a wild card spot.

Division B saw Team Kientz (*) take a commanding lead (the fork really charged them up) and moved them into the 1st seed spot.  Team Breen and Team Anderson (*) are in 2nd and 3rd and left trying to achieve a wild card spot.  Team Harms (*) at the bottom can spoil it for Team Anderson.

Division C has Team Donlin with a strong lead and Team Bramlage moving back into 2nd place and close enough for a chance at Division or wild card.  Team Bunkelman (*) faltered and got moved back to 3rd but still has a chance for a wild card spot.  Team Patmann (*) is bringing in the bottom with hopes of maybe next year but can spoil Team Bunkelman’s chances this year.

Division D still has my team, Team C. Halpin still in the lead (but knocked down to 3rd seed) with Team Pfeiffer 41points back and still holding a 5th seed spot. Early season leader Team Freeman is still slowly dropping but if Team Schumacher (*) doesn’t show up Team Freeman would still have a chance at a wild card spot.

*With so many teams vying for the wild card positions the fork has been put away this week.  It did seem to motivate several teams to step up their game and I’m glad I didn’t bet on these since I would have lost badly on Team Kientz and Team Kiffmeyer, although I guess I will have to pour Team Kientz a beer at the outing.

Summary of the Forked:

May:  Team Schumacher.

June:  Team Harms.

July:    Team Bunkelman, Team Leirey, Team Kientz, Team Kiffmeyer, Team Anderson,

 Team Patmann.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt.  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.
