IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter
Week 15 – July 31, 2024
Finally got hit by some thunder storms this week. Several teams did not complete 9 holes but did complete enough holes to call this week complete. Due to all teams not completing 9 holes, skins money for this week will be credited back to those in skins, Long Putt monies will be credit back to those in Long Putt, and front nine greenie monies one half will be credited back to those in closest to the Pin on #7. Closest to the Pin for #5, #13, and #14 will be paid to winners on those holes. Credits will be given at the end of year in case there are additional rainouts/etc.
Speaking of weather: the course by direction of CRC does not blow a horn for hazardous weather due to liability concerns. It is up to our league to decide when weather is too hazardous to continue. This leaves it up to everyone to monitor the weather for their own safety. The League Secretary has sent a letter to the CRC Golf superintendent airing our league concern.
The subs playing this week: Dave Martin (r) (Team Kientz), Frank Leirey & Jeff Barnhorst (Team Crouch), Terry Boland & PJ Haubner (Team Bachmann), Don Tobler (Team Brian Anderson), Greg Arkle (Team Harms), Bob Norris (Team Bill Anderson) and Sam Ellsworth (Team Ellsworth).
Inner Division play is heating up with position changes of some of the unseeded teams and changes to a couple of seeded teams. Could be more changes coming with 270 points left up for grabs.
Reminder on Wild-Card Play-Off, Semi-Finals, Finals, and Scramble tee times (read fine print).
- Wild Card Play-Off Tee Times: August 23rd – 2:30, 2:39, 2:48, & 2:57 - front nine.
- Semi-Finals Tee Times: August 28th – 12:06, 12:15, 12:24, & 12:33 – front nine.
- Finals Tee Times: August 28th – 3:06 & 3:15 – back nine.
- Scramble Tee Times: August 28th – 2:39 every 9 minutes through 4:36 – front nine.
Sub Eligibility for Play-Offs: Teams with a hope of playing in the Wild-Card Play-Offs, Semi-Finals, and Finals there is currently only one open sub qualified to play according to League Rules Article XIX. “To be able to play for any team in the play-offs, a sub must have played 3 official rounds on both the front nine and the back nine during the current season. Restricted subs are always allowed to play in the play-offs. Play-Off teams are limited to only one sub during play-off games. Teams with a restricted sub can still use another sub.” A separate updated list will be sent to the Team Captains on sub eligibility.
League Outing – September 6 – A.J. Jolly Golf Course
Heads up on our Outing: Cost this year is $75.00 which includes 18 holes of Golf, Cart, Hotdog, Door Prizes, Flight Winners, and use of the Pavilion. It will be a shotgun start. Outing Committee is Jim Bramlage and Brian Anderson. Brian is the contact for dinner and is researching dinner options. More information will be coming out but start making plans to attend. Good time to start rounding up subs, family members, and friends that would like to play.
This week Team Ellsworth played vs the vacant team and came out with a big win. Next week Team Zachritz will compare scores vs either team 4, or 12. I am wagering that Team Zachritz will drop to #6 Seed Mr. Bill Z.
Heard Around, Happened Around, or Just Plain Made Up Info from Around the Clubhouse: The League secretary disavows any knowledge of erroneous or false information in this section of the newsletter. With the noise in the clubhouse and my hearing deficiency who knows for sure what is being said. If there is something you wish to complain about see the gripe committee head: Mr. Bill Zachritz. He will take any issues to the men’s room where he will discuss it with the Man-in-the-Mirror. Please do not anticipate any resolution soon or in the future.
- Someone, I can’t remember who quoted as saying he is “sandbagging this year for wins next year.”
Question for the Weak/Thoughts to Ponder for the Weak
- Why is Mr. Bill Zachritz name always in the fine print? Answer it correctly for a prize of some nothing.
Answer on the page after the last page. Only one person, Mr. T., got the answer to the question right this week. Good for one once used broken tee.
