IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter
Week 15 – August
3, 2016
Another hot day and now only 3
regular weeks left. The inner Division
play has begun and the competition for Division lead has really started heating
up. This week we had 2 no-shows. If having trouble finding a sub let me know
since we have plenty of subs willing to play.

This week we had 5 subs: Jeff Witt (Team Buescher), Larry Oliver (Team
Kiffmeyer), Mike Schwarberg (Team Kientz), Steve Ruehl (Team Bramlage), and new
sub Tommy Quinlan (Team Harms).
Good rounds this week:
Front
9 – Larry Oliver – 37, Ray Vaughn – 38, Jeff Witt - 38; Back 9 – Bill Zachritz
– 36, Jim Bramlage - 38.
Most Under Average (Sandbagger
Award):
Sherrill Swann (7.4 under average), Sue Kerrick (7.1 under average),
Eddie Gregory (6.0 under average), Jim Bramlage (5.9 under average), Bill
Zachritz (5.7 under average).
Most Over Average (Hope to be a Sandbagger Some Day Award): Mary Jo Leirey (6.9
over average), Steve Ruehl (5.8 over average), Rick Taylor (5.6 over average).
Gift match of the weak: This
goes to the match between Tim Feldman vs. Rick Taylor. Tim shoots a 51 (1.7 over average), Rick
shoots a 58 (5.6 over average). Tim wins and also gives Team Anderson more than
enough to defeat Team Patmann.
Division Rankings
A Division – Defending Champs Team
Schumacher remains division leader but lost some ground this week and also moved
down to 3rd seed. Team Leirey
is still in 2nd place with Team Flynn and Team Donlin closing
in. Only 102.5 points separate top and
bottom with not much time left.
B Division - Team Halpin with a nice
win still holds their position and also moved back up to 2nd seed. Team Kiffmeyer with a no-show split their
match with Team Buescher and both could still find their way to a wild card
spot. Team Harms comes in 4th
and could be a spoiler.
C Division - Team Zachritz remains
in the lead and 1st seed with Team Kientz (5th seed) right
on their heals (46 points behind). Team
Bramlage (6th seed) lost a little more ground on the lead this week and
has teams in other divisions inching closer to that 6th seed. Team Freeman brings in 4th and
with the way they defeated Team Bramlage could pose a problem for Team Zachritz
and Team Kientz.
D Division – Team Patmann still
holds the lead and 4th seed and suffered yet another loss vs. Team
Anderson, giving Team Anderson (the shirts) (35 points out) some hope at moving
up to the lead. Team Breen is still within reach
of division title (89 points back) but not many weeks left. Team Pfeiffer (with a no-show) brought in a
win but not enough to move them off the bottom, yet they can have an effect on
who will be the division leader.
Seeding: (1) Team Zachritz, (2) Team Halpin, (3) Team Schumacher,
(4) Team Patmann, (5) Team Kientz, (6) Team Bramlage.
Status
of the almighty Fork: Team Anderson –
week 5; Team Pfeiffer – week 7; Team Freeman – week 9; Team Flynn – week 13;
Team Harms – week 13: Team Donlin – week 14; Team Buescher – week 14.
Heard around the
clubhouse:
From last week Team Kientz was saying
they were in it for the skins/greenie money.
After this week Team Donlin has them beat at that.
From
Mr. Bill Zachritz and something about his name appearing in the newsletter too
much. Well this week seems his name will
be in here more than usual as you can see from the skins and back nine
medalist. Also this might be a first for Mr. Zachritz but word has
it he did not hit a single tree on the back nine. Amazing.
And
from Tony Brewer about a piece of sportswear:
Sorry this has been “CENSORED.”
Have
to mention about the run-a-way pull cart.
Seems Mr. Pat Harms walked away from his pull cart by #8 forward tee and
it mysteriously decided to roll down the hill.
Surprisingly it made it all the way to the bottom before falling over. Luckily for him no damage. I had nothing to do with this since I was on
the tee box ready to hit. I did stop to
watch and dance, guess I shouldn’t have done the victory dance since Pat went
on to beat me.
Then
there was something about you can blame Bruce going to New York on Mr. Rafael
Gonzalez.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt
Most of the regulars and subs in the
league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be
a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse. The sheet will have the names of all the
regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $5.00
entry fee for all games ($3.00 entry
fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt).
Place a check mark for each category
for which you are participating. If the
Briefcase is not out notate on your
scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match. First teams out please take the markers, last
teams in please bring markers in.
Note: Complaint Committee
Bill Zachritz is still taking all complaints even though his complaint folder
is full. Let’s keep him busy.
