IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

July 30, 2014

What a week.  There were some very good rounds this week.  Congratulations go to Clayton Doty, subbing for Team Flynn, for shooting a ‘Hole in One’ on #13, along with 3 ‘Birdies’ to finish with a 32 on the back nine.  Per Team Captain Jim Bramlage in their match against Team Flynn, there were a total of 7 ‘Birdies’ (2 by Jim Bramlage, 1 by Joe Devereux, versus 3 by Clayton Doty, and 1 by Tom Nienaber) in the match with Team Flynn winning “but it was fun watching Clayton Doty shoot.”  Other good rounds of special note on the back nine was:  Frank Leirey – 35, Larry Bunkelman – 38, and Jeff Witt – 39.  Special note on the front nine was:  Jay Ackerman – 37, Bill Zachritz – 39, Cecil Begley – 39, and Tom Schumacher – 39.  League overall there were 19 birdies.

Division leaders remained the same this week with only some changes to the seed positions.  Team Zachritz still holds the lead in A Division but moved down to 3rd in the league.  Team Kiffmeyer stayed in the lead in B Division with Team Schumacher moving in on them.  Team Bramlage maintained their lead in C Division but drops to 2nd in the league.  Team Anderson (purple shirts again) took a nice win to move back up to 1st in the league.

Current Leaders:

A Division – Team Zachritz (3rd seed)

B Division – Team Kiffmeyer (4th seed)

C Division – Team Bramlage (2nd seed)

D Division – Team Anderson (1st seed)

Current Wildcards – Team Leirey (5th seed) & Team Harms (6th seed)

Now only three weeks to the playoffs and the competition is hot.

Status of the Fork:  It was mentioned that I may have overused/abused the Fork.  May Mr. Fredrickson prove that if he may?  With that said I will hold back the fork this week since most of the remaining teams still have a chance.  Team Flynn was put on notice last week and they pulled out every trick in the bag to put themselves back in the hunt, so until next week the fork is at rest.

Summary of Teams Forked:  Team Schumacher (week 8 should have been week 1), Team Patmann (week 10), Team Kientz (week 12), Team Breen (week 13), Team Freeman (week 14), Team Kiffmeyer (week 14), and Team Pfeiffer (week 14).

There were 7 subs this week.  Subs were Melody Oswalt, Laura Fitzgerald, Clayton Doty, Gary Melish, Jeff Witt, Greg Arkle, new sub Mike Barnett.  Thanks for being there.

Here is something I received via e-mail:

HOW ADAM GOT EVE.

Nothing like a good Bible story to make your day.

Adam was hanging around the Garden of Eden feeling very lonely.
So, God asked him, "What's wrong with you?"
Adam said he didn't have anyone to talk to.
God said that He was going to make Adam a companion and that it would be a woman.
God said, "This pretty lady will gather food for you, she will cook for you, and when you discover clothing, she will wash it for you.  She will always agree with every decision you make and she will not nag you, and will always be the first to admit she was wrong when you've had a disagreement.  She will praise you!  She will bear your children, and never ask you to get up in the middle of the night to take care of them. She will NEVER have a headache and will freely give you love and passion whenever you need it."

Adam asked God, "What will a woman like this cost?"

God replied, "An arm and a leg."
Then Adam asked, "What can I get for a rib?"

Something else I received over e-mail (sounds like something I have done before)

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt.  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams please bring markers in.
