IRS Golf League Newsletter – July 31, 2013

Another reminder that Team Anderson is still planning and putting together the information for the Outing this year.  The date is Friday, Sept. 6, with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Power carts will be included in the cost of the outing, as well as sandwiches at the turn and beverages on the course. Catering will be provided with the usual menu or equivalent.  Games and events for the outing will be announced at a later time.  Please get the word out to all your subs that might be interested in playing to contact Brian or e-mail me at halpinc@aol.com.

Texas Scramble is scheduled for August 21.  Tom Schumacher will be putting this together.  More information will follow.  Let me know who will be playing (Regulars and Subs) so Tom can get this organized.

Inner division play got turned up a notch this week.

Division A still has Team Zachritz in the lead (#2 seed) still followed closely by Team Flynn and Team Leirey (*) with Team Kiffmeyer (*) back by 60 points.

Division B changed leaders to Team Kientz (*) with Team Breen not too far behind.  Team Anderson (*) is slowly dropping and closing in on Team Harms (*) at the bottom.

Division C is pretty tight with Team Donlin taking the lead away from Team Bramlage, and Team Bunkelman (*) finding life and moving up to 2nd place and pushing Team Patmann (*) to the bottom. 66.5 points separating 1st to 4th.

Division D has Team C. Halpin still in the lead and moving into #1 seed, but only 24 points over Team Pfeiffer. Team Freeman is slowly dropping with Team Schumacher (*) showing a little bit of life at the bottom.

*I’m still catching some hell about forking, especially one team that somehow has showed some life and moved up in their division.  But with 2 weeks left we will have to see if they can prove me wrong.   I guess if they prove me wrong and win their division I will pour them a beer at the outing, but the fork will remain.  Team Patmann is the new recipient of the fork this week after they fell to Team Bunkelman and moved to the bottom of their division.

Summary of the Forked:

May:  Team Schumacher.

June:  Team Harms.

July:  Team Bunkelman, Team Leirey, Team Kientz, Team Kiffmeyer, Team Anderson,        Team Patmann.

I guess almost everyone heard the story from Mr. Kientz this past week about the Tickle-me-Elmo.  He did tell me to forget it (or is that not to remember it) so here it is.

Mr. Kientz says that every Tickle-me-Elmo is male and how do you know.  We’ll of course I don’t know, and seems like that is the answer he wants, which Mr. Kientz tells me that every Tickle-me-Elmo is given 2 test-tickles before it leaves the factory.  Mr. Kiffmeyer almost laughed himself out of the chair on this one.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt.  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.
