IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 14 – July 24, 2019

I will start this off with saying we made it to week 14 before the Skins/Greenie/Long Putt money was shorted.  Total short was $1.15.  Looks like not enough quarters were put in since there was $3.85 in quarters & nickels change in the pot.

I want to thank Mark Halpin for taking care of the secretary duties this Wednesday.   Another job well done.

This past week we had 8 subs:  Mark Anderson (Team Anderson), Dave Vincent (Team Schumacher), Brad Ferguson (Team Buescher), Carol Goldstone (Team Patmann), Mike Schwarberg (Team Kientz), Rick McErlane (Team Bramlage), Kirt Mowery (Team Halpin), and Don Bazsika (Team Bachmann).  Thanks for being there.

Good Rounds:

Front Nine:  Tom Schumacher – 38; Ray Vaughn – 38; Steve Duddey – 38; Jim Grassinger – 38; Garry Melish – 39.

Back Nine:  Kirt Mowery – 36; Jay Ackerman – 38; Farlon Smith - 39.

Most under/over average (5+/-) (Sandbagger of the Weak):

Under:

Don Bazsika – shoots 50 (8.0 under average)--------

Patrick Buescher – shoots 43 (6.9 under average)(three weeks in a row)-------

Jack Snowden – shoots 43 (6.3 under average)(opposite list last week)------

Farlon Smith – shoots 39 (6.2 under average)------

Sue Kerrick shoots 51 (5.7 under average)------

Over:

Pat Harms – shoots 64 (7.6 over average)+++++++

John Freeman – shoots 55 (7.1 over average)+++++++

Dick Flynn – shoots 47 (6.9 over average)(every other week over)+++++++

Division Standings:

A Division: Defending League Champions Team Bachmann (Slye) took 1st place away from Team Bramlage.  Team Bachmann moves into the #1 Seed as Team Bramlage falls to #6 seed (10 points out of lead).  Team Breen picked up a little ground and only 51 points out (41 points out of wild card).  Team Halpin picked up a little also and is now only 95 points out (85 points out of wild card).

Division B:  Team Flynn (#2 Seed) is still barely holding the lead by 5.5 points over Team Schumacher which moved into #5 Seed.  Team Vaughn lost a little ground and is now 65.5 points out of the lead and 60 points out of wild card.  Team Patmann still holds 2nd from the top of the upside down list and can be a spoiler to the other division teams.

Division C:  Team Buescher (#3 seed) increased their lead in division with Team Kientz now 30.5 points out (37.5 out of wild card).  Team Anderson (the shirts) brings in 3rd but 38.5 points out of 1st  (45 points out of wild card).  Team Freeman bringing in 4th fell to 143.5 points from 1st place and needs a lot of big wins or be a spoiler to their division teams.

Division D:  Team Kiffmeyer (#4 Seed) is still in the lead but lost more ground again as Team Harms moved within 15 points.  Team Leirey lost a little ground and is now 36 points out.  Team Pfeiffer won their 1st match this season and looks to destroy the other teams in the division.

With 4 weeks left the start of inner division play begins next week and the race for a seeded position is on.  Foreseen is a lot of changes to the lead positions and seeding with only 360 points available.  The league secretary for the next two weeks will be taking predictions on who the six seeded teams will be for the playoffs.  Submit your predictions by August 7.  Get all six teams correct and win two strings of experienced golf balls.  Get all six teams and seeded position correct for 1 dozen experienced golf  balls.

Current seeding is:

#1 Seed – Team Bachmann (A Division)

#2 Seed – Team Flynn (B Division)

#3 Seed – Team Buescher (C Division)

#4 Seed – Team Kiffmeyer (D Division)

#5 Seed – Team Schumacher (B Division)

#6 Seed – Team Bramlage (A Division)

Status of the Almighty Fork:

No one Forked this week.  With inner division play starting next week the Fork is sharpened and ready.

Forked Week 7:  Team Leirey and Team Pfeiffer.       Forked Week 8:  Team Anderson.

Forked Week 9:  Team Patmann.                              Forked Week 10:  Team Harms

Forked Week 11: Team Kiffmeyer

Missed Shot of the Day:

League secretary did well this past week as I did not lose a single ball and had no penalty strokes.  However, the golf ball size lump taken out of my neck was another story as I thought I heard the doctor say something about it being a Titleist Pro V1.

Question of the Weak or is this Thoughts to Ponder:

Are children who act in rated ‘R’ movies allowed to see them?
Are eyebrows considered facial hair?
At a movie theater which arm rest is yours?
Can a short person “talk down” to a taller person?
Can animals commit suicide?
Can you daydream at night?
Do bald people get dandruff?
Do coffins have lifetime guarantees?
Do dentists go to other dentists or do they just do it themselves?
Do prison buses have emergency exits?
Do sheep get static cling when they rub against one another?
Do stairs go up or down?
Do stuttering people stutter when they’re thinking to themselves?
Do they have the word “dictionary” in the dictionary?
Do you yawn in your sleep?

What’s a question with no answer called?
