IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 14 – July 25, 2018

Another reminder to be on the tee box prior to your tee time and to play ready golf.  There are leagues after ours so play ready golf as those playing later can get their rounds in.

Treasurer Chuck Reckers reports that all are current with Dues/Fees.   Chuck also reports that the Outing on September 7 cost will be $68.00.  Still waiting on cost and menu for dinner.  More information on this will be out soon.

Subs this week were:  Jim Conrady (Team Leirey), Jeff Witt (Team Buescher), and Kelly Johnson (Team Bramlage).  Thanks for being there.

Division Standings:

Division A:  Defending League Champs Team Bramlage (#4 Seed) is barely holding the lead as Team Anderson is closing in on them (11.5 points out).  Team Kientz and Team Leirey both falling back but with inner division play starting things could change fast here.  (1st to 4th place is now 79.5 points)

Division B:  Team Slye (#2 Seed) holds the top and seems to have this division locked up as their lead is now 104 points over Team Vaughn.  Team Kiffmeyer with a win still couldn’t close the gap on Team Slye.  Team Harms brings in the rear but can be a spoiler to their opponents in inner division play.  (1st to 4th separation 149.5 points)

Division C:  Team Flynn (#1 Seed) is still at the top of division and league.  Team Schumacher suffered a loss but managed to move up to 2nd place but still way out of seeding.  Team Halpin suffered a bigger loss than Team Schumacher and dropped to 3rd.   Team Pfeiffer with another big win closed the gap but still has a long way to go.  Inner division play may not change the results here.  (1st to 4th increased to 119 points)

Division D:  Team Freeman (#3 Seed) is holding on to the top by 6.5 points with Team Breen (#5 Seed) and Team Buescher (#6 Seed) (26 points down) closing in.  Team Patmann falls to 93 points out and should start making plans for the Scramble.  Inner division play could make big changes here.

This was the last week of play between Division A vs Division D and Division B vs Division C.  August 1st starts play on inner division and a lot of changes could be in store as if no rain outs there is only 360 points up for grabs.

Status of the Almighty Fork:

Seems the Mother Forker (thank you Jim Westcott) put the Fork away and couldn’t find it.  Last week the question was if Team Kiffmeyer or Team Schumacher was going to get Forked.  Well Team Kiffmeyer did win over Team Schumacher, but when the Secretary looked at which team he is playing against next week decided not to Fork Team Schumacher just yet.  It was later decided that next week’s winner of the Schumacher vs Halpin match will definitely be/not be Forked (again thank you Jim Westcott).   Next week could also see Team Kientz possibly receiving the Fork from Team Leirey.  Then Team Kiffmeyer is a possible done if Team Slye is the victor next week.  Then there is Team Pfeiffer having to take down team Flynn to save themselves.  Let the fun begin.

Week 14 almost Forked:  Team Schumacher, Team Halpin, Team Kiffmeyer.

Week 12 Forked:  Team Leirey, Team Pfeiffer, Team Patmann.

Week 10 Forked:  Team Harms, Team Vaughn.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt.  Place a check mark or X for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out, notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.

League Secretary Charlie Halpin

Fine Print:  At a loss for time, and absence of a kitchen pass this section is void this week.  Secretary is in the dog house.  Come back next week for something crazy maybe.
