IRS Golf League Newsletter – July 24, 2013
This past week we finally had some beautiful weather. Forgot what it was like golfing with no rain
or storms.
Team Anderson is planning and putting
together the information for the Outing this year. The fall outing will be held at AJ Jolly Golf
Course as in years past. The date is Friday, Sept. 6, with a shotgun start at
10 a.m. Power carts will be included in the cost of the outing, as well as
sandwiches at the turn and beverages on the course. Catering will be provided
once again by McHale's, with the usual menu or equivalent. Games and events for the outing will be
announced at a later time.
Please e-mail me (halpinc@aol.com) which of your
regulars/restricted subs will be playing "golf only" or if they will
be doing "golf & dinner." Also, if you know of any subs or guests that
are interested in playing, please include the same
response for them as well or have them contact me. If they don't know if they will be staying
for dinner, just give us their names/e-mail address and we will contact them.
I received this following story on facebook and had to share it. Names were changed to protect the innocence
of some.
Ed
decided to go play a game of golf with his good friends Theodore and Larry one
morning. He promised Marie that he would
be home in time for lunch. Well, lunchtime came and went, and no Ed. Mid afternoon came and went, still no Ed. Suppertime passed, and Ed finally shows up
about an hour later. Marie is, of
course, just a little bit mad.
"Ed, where in the world you been? You say you going to be home by lunch, and
here it is dark time, and you just now getting home!"
Ed says, "Marie, don't get on my case. My good friend, Theodore, died on the golf
course this morning."
Marie says, "Oh Ed, I'm so sorry. I can understand now . . . making funeral
arrangements for your friend, and all. I
understand now why you are so late."
Ed says, "Funeral arrangements? What funeral arrangements? It was - hit the ball, drag Theodore - hit the
ball, drag Theodore . . . it took me and Larry all day to finish the
game!"
With the
inner division play the competition was heating up this week.
Division A still has Team Zachritz in the lead but followed closely by Team Flynn. Team Leirey (*) and Team Kiffmeyer (*) are
not that far back (61 points separating 1st and last).
Division B has Team Breen in the lead by only 2 points over Team Kientz (*), with
Team Anderson (*) dropping to 35 points out, and Team Harms (*) holding the
bottom over 100 points out.
Division C has become pretty tight with Team Bramlage in the lead, followed
closely by Team Donlin, Team Patmann, and Team Bunkelman (*) (53 points separate 1st and last
place).
Division D has Team C. Halpin still in
the lead but only by 2 points over Team
Pfeiffer, and then followed by Team Freeman only 44.5 points out. Team Schumacher (*) holds the bottom 94
points out.
*Seems like I have been catching some hell about forking some teams,
possible too early. Well, from the
results this past week I am reminded about several years ago when my team was
forked and went on to the playoffs and beating the forker. It seems like maybe Team Schumacher had it
out for us this past week and extracted some revenge. So not too much twisting of the fork in
Schumacher is in order, however the fork remains. Looks like the fork has helped to motivate
some into proving the forker wrong. With
that said it is time to give the fork to Team Anderson after they past Team
Kientz in moving down the leader board.
Also, Team Kiffmeyer receives the fork for making it to the bottom of A
Division. I didn’t really think they
could do it, but they did. Team Patmann
saved themselves from the fork again.
They had a good performance this week but still remain on thin ice.
Summary of the Forked:
May: Team Schumacher.
June: Team Harms.
July: Team Bunkelman, Team Leirey,
Team Kientz, Team Kiffmeyer, Team Anderson.

Most of the regulars and subs in the
league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For
those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the
tables in the clubhouse.
The
sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for
subs to write in their names.
$3.00
entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long
Putt. Place
a check mark for each category for which you are participating.
