IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter
Week 13 – July
20, 2016
Hot day on
the course.
Thankfully there was plenty of beer to stay hydrated with??? Ed Kiffmeyer was at the course to inspire his
team (they did win) and visit with everyone.
Ed will have to stop by every week until he can play again.
Condolences
to the family of Jimmy Smith. Jimmy’s father-in-law passed away this past
week. Our sympathy goes to Jimmy and his
wife’s family.
News from Ethan at California Golf
Course: “We will have a 2016 League Championship
for all of our leagues on August 21st at 1:30 PM. The format
will be a 4 Person Scramble and the cost will be $200 per Team
($50/Player). Price includes Golf and Cart, Dinner, and beer. Please let your league players know that they
can sign up their team in the golf shop…” Note:
This can be any 4 players from the league making up a team.
This week we had 6 subs: John Kaufhold (Team Pfeiffer), Bob Kendrach
(Team Halpin), Chet Wiggins and Will Freeman (Team Zachritz), Terry Buelow
(Team Kiffmeyer), and Mike Schwarberg (Team Kientz).
Good rounds this week:
Front
9 – Mike Donlin – 36, Tom Schumacher – 37, Ray Vaughn – 39, Lee Crouch – 39,
Clyde Barnes - 39.
Back
9 – Don Buescher – 39, Jay Ackerman – 39.
Most Under Average (Sandbagger Award): Sue Kerrick (9.8 under average), Mike Donlin
(7.8 under average), Brain Anderson (6.2 under average), Don Buescher (5.9
under average), Tim Feldman (5.8 under average), Jim Hill (5.7 under average),
Dave Gindele (5.2 under average), Lee Crouch (5.0 under average).
Most Over Average (Hope to be a
Sandbagger Some Day Award): No one
wanted to claim this award this week.
There were a couple of players close but not 5 over average. I presume no one wants their name here.
Gift match of the weak: Of course Mike Sullivan taking 18 points and
earning 4 team medal points versus a no show is the gift match with the rest of
Team Harms only mustering 10 additional points versus Team Freeman.
Division Rankings
A Division – Defending Champs Team
Schumacher (moved up to 3rd seed) with A
player Clyde Barnes leading the way, still holds onto the lead in division.
Team Leirey still holds onto 2nd
place. Team Donlin moved up to 3rd
after a nice win with Team Flynn dropping to the 4th spot. Team Flynn did request to be forked however
the secretary only Forks teams deserving of the Fork. Breaking News: Team Flynn is hereby Forked.
B Division - Team Halpin (2nd seed)
with another win holds 1st place here. Team Kiffmeyer (with their leaders
inspiration on the course) moved up to 2nd place as Team Buescher falls
to 3rd and is closing in on the Fork. Team Harms comes in 4th and after
their recent loss and is hereby Forked.
C Division - Team Zachritz (1st
seed) is still holding the lead for division and league. Team Kientz (5th seed) with a loss
has lost some ground. Team Bramlage (6th
seed) with a loss is still hanging back.
Team Freeman brings in 4th here and now brings in 3rd
from the top of the upside down list.
D Division – Team Patmann (4th
seed) suffered a loss but still holds their division lead. Team Anderson (the shirts) picked up a win
and moved up in division and are somehow within reach of the division
leader. Team Breen got knocked down to
third and seem to be losing steam. Team
Pfeiffer holding firm to the top of the upside down list and may have this
position locked in.
Seeding: (1) Team Zachritz, (2) Team Halpin, (3) Team Schumacher,
(4) Team Patmann, (5) Team Kientz, (6) Team Bramlage. With 5 weeks of play before the play-offs
there were two teams (Seeds 1 & 2) out doing a rain dance hoping for 40
days of rain.
Status
of the almighty Fork: Team Anderson –
week 5; Team Pfeiffer – week 7; Team Freeman – week 9; Team Flynn – week 13;
Team Harms – week 13. Close
to receiving the Fork: Team Donlin, Team Kiffmeyer, Team Buescher, & Team
Breen.
Heard around the
clubhouse:
There was some talk about the
League Outing. More information will be
coming out soon.
There is one game maybe to be added
to the Outing this year by the Outing Committee since Mr. Ed Kiffmeyer will be
at the course but probably unable to play.
The outing committee is proposing a new game: if Ed Kiffmeyer is
not able to play, he will be provided a bull’s-eye shirt and a
cart. Any golfer who has the skill to hit the moving Ed bull’s-eye as he
cruises the course will win a beer
and a Silver Max golf ball. No entry fee required.
Note: from what I am told there
will be multiple bull’s-eyes on Mr. Kiffmeyer.
Chuckle for the weak (or are
these thoughts to ponder):
Tom Schumacher as the B player. Really.
Chris
Kerns (the informant) explaining the size of things. Should phrase that
differently next time.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt
Most of the regulars and subs in the
league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be
a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse. The sheet will have the names of all the
regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $5.00
entry fee for all games ($3.00 entry
fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt).
Place a check mark for each category
for which you are participating. If the
Briefcase is not out notate on your
scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match. First teams out please take the markers, last
