IRS Wednesday Golf
League Newsletter
Week
12 – July 12, 2023
It is with
deepest sympathy that Pat Breen, father to Mike and Dennis Breen, passed away
on July 7th. Pat was one of the original
members of our league playing from 1962 to 2019 and he was always friendly with
everyone and was one of the nicest people to know. Pat was the Herman Lorenz recipient in 1991
and on League Champion teams in 2001 and 2008.
Our Prayers and Condolences go out to the Breen family.
Team Vaughn is
still on a roll. This week they totally decimated
Team Brian Anderson (or did Team Brian Anderson totally decimate themselves). Word has it that Bob Norris will give the
team that beats Team Vaughn two dozen experienced golf balls. Secretary thoughts on this is Bob Norris will
still be trying to give those balls away next year.
From what I was
told Jay Broadus just came up shy of an Eagle (hole in one) on #13. Seems he hit the flagpole and his ball jumped
out stopping close to the hole. He did win
closest to the pin and a Birdie.
Position
Round 2 results:
A
Division has Team Crouch
remaining in the lead. Team Broadus
moved up to 2nd as Team Kientz dropped to 3rd. Twenty-five points separate 1st to
3rd. Team Zachritz remained
in 4th and will most undoubtedly remain
there the rest of the season.
B
Division has Team Flynn remaining
in the lead and running away with their division. Team Harms moved up to 2nd as Team
Buescher dropped to 3rd. Team
Halpin brings in 4th and is on the brink of being Forked (I don’t think
I can do that to my team).
C
Division had no changes
to positions as Team Bachmann remains in the lead, followed by Team Bramlage in
2nd and Team Kiffmeyer in 3rd. With 56.5 points separating 1st from
3rd. Team Bill Anderson comes
in 4th and is probably finished (Forked) for the season.
D
Division has the unbeatable
Team Vaughn in the lead and running away with a 267 point lead over 2nd
place Team Brian Anderson, and with Team Snowden in 3rd place.
Name
the position round winners competition: Only
received 2 entries not counting the league secretary. Results were Mr. Ken Thoerner 3 correct
picks, secretary 6 correct picks, and the winner with 6 correct picks (tie
breaker pull name out of the hat) Mr. Mike Breen. Mike will receive one dozen high quality
experienced golf balls. Okay these were the rules for this.
“League Secretary reserves the right to change the rules at his
discretion. Eligibility is open to all
regulars, restricted subs, subs, and those who were members of the league,
again at the discretion of the League Secretary. Bogus entries will be discretely disposed of. Any disputes on the rules of this will be discarded.” How come the League Secretary cannot even
pull his own name out of the hat? There was plenty of loopholes in this, no one was watching the
name pulled out of the hat. Yet I just can’t
win.
Continuing reminder on the schedule containing two tee times for
the teams versus the Vacant team. All
tee times following Team 12 on the regular schedule will be moved up one time
earlier. This will be posted on the website
each week on the newsletter tab for the following week and will also be sent
via e-mail.

Team Snowden played
versus the Vacant Team 12 this week. Since
this was a position round, they scored against the 2nd place team (Team
Brian Anderson) in their division and scored well. For July 19th Team Kientz plays versus
the vacant team. See League Secretary to
pull your opponent out of the hat (Team 4, 8, 16).
The League Secretary
is still looking for input into the newsletter.
No complaints and no gripes, just fun stuff. Please use the recap sheet to add any unusual
or funny occurrences, great feats, etc. that happen on the course.
