IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 12 - July 14, 2021

Condolences go to Chuck Reckers and family for the loss of their father Elmer Reckers.  Elmer was a past member of our golf league and served as league president years ago.  A memorial tree will be planted as a living memorial to Elmer from the IRS Golf League.

Get well wishes to Mike Breen.  Mike will be having surgery this week to repair his lungs.  Hurry and get well soon.

Congratulations go to Kevin Bachmann shooting a 1 under par 34 on the front nine from the white tees.  Kevin had a Birdie on #1 then pars on #2 through #9.

Most Recap sheets this week were fairly good, however there were some that had major errors or not completely filled out.  Reminder that if white tee is giving strokes to yellow tee then use the gold handicap holes, if yellow tee giving to yellow tee then use the gold handicap holes, if yellow tee is giving to white tee then use the black handicap holes, and if white tee is giving to white tee then use the black handicap holes.

Subs this week were:  Don Bazsika (for Team Bachmann); new sub Andrew Anderson (for Team Bachmann); Jeff Witt (for Team Buescher); Steve Ruehl (for Team Bramlage); Greg Arkle (for Team Harms); Dave Vincent (for Team Breen); Brian Ferguson (for Team Breen); new sub Quintin Suggs (for Team Breen); and Mary Jo Leirey (for Team Hill.  Thanks for being there.

Position round play saw some changes to A Division and C Division.  In A Division Team Kientz took the lead away from Team Anderson (the Shirts).  In C Division Team Vaughn took the lead away from Team Bachmann.  No other changes to positions, however most teams are still close to the leaders in all divisions.

Results of Secretary’s prediction on winning position round teams:

A Division: Team Kientz defeats Team Anderson.  Team Kientz crushed the shirts.

Team Pfeiffer with a big win over Team Flynn.  Wrong - Team Flynn with a big win.

B Division:  Team Zachritz barely wins over Team Leirey.  Wrong - Team Leirey with a big win.

Team Bramlage overwhelmingly wins over Team Schumacher.  Wrong again as Team Schumacher barely pulls out a win.

C Division:   Team Vaughn barely wins over Team Bachmann.   Team Vaughn had a big win.

Team Buescher crushes Team Kiffmeyer.  Wrong – Team Kiffmeyer with a big win.

D Division:  Team Halpin defeats Team Harms.  Missed this by a lot as Team Harms wins big.

Team Breen with a big win over Team Hill.  Wrong - Team Hill gets a big win.

The League Secretary offered a dozen top name, well experienced golf balls for whoever could guess the winning position round teams.  I only received one response.  Guess nobody wanted to take a chance.  I got 2 right, the other person got 3 right, so I will graciously give that person the dozen balls.  Congratulations Kevin Bachmann for out guessing me.

And one more comment as the Marine Corp beat the Air Force.  Congratulations Jim Conrady.
