IRS Wednesday Golf
League Newsletter
Week
12 July 15, 2020
This past week
was the make-up for the May 6 play.
Remainder of the season goes by the schedule with 5 weeks of regular
play left, then position round 3, then play-offs & Scramble.
League Secretary
after looking at the results and team standings did a triple review and
immediately began jumping up and down and doing a rain dance for rainouts for the
rest of the year. That is all I have to
say on that.
Everyone did great
on getting all the scorecards turned in/texted to the League Secretary.
League
Treasurer Chuck Reckers will be holding a Zoom Captains Meeting on July 23 at 7
p.m. Items on the agenda will be second
installment on League Fees, Year End Scramble, and Outing plans. Zoom information has been sent to the Team
Captains.
Every
week I will post this about carts and fees.
Green
fees and cart fees are still being paid by the League Treasurer Chuck Reckers. For those okay with riding 2 in a cart with
teammates that is now acceptable and preferred.
For those who said they will walk
but wish to change to walk front and ride back or ride both sides, you need to let
the League Treasurer Chuck Reckers know by Tuesdays 6 p.m. so he can update his
records and notify the course on number of carts we will need. Also, if you are having a sub that is
different on walk or ride you need to let Chuck know about that. If a player wants to commit to ride the back
or both sides Chuck will update his records and collect the cart fees as part
of the second installment in late July. Reminder
that no changing your mind at the course.
Subs this past
week: Mike Schwarberg (Team Kientz), Carol
Goldstone (Team Sue&Sherrill), Shari Anderson (Team Harms), Brian Taylor (Team
Buescher), and new sub Troy Powell (Team Bachmann). Thanks for being there.

Division
Standings:
A Division:
Team Schumacher took the lead with Team Anderson moving up to 2nd
place. Team Bramlage took a whooping and
dropped to 3rd. Team
Kiffmeyer held their 4th place position. Note: Point
spread between 1st and 3rd is only 6 points, and 47 points
separating 1st from 4th.
B Division:
Big, big really big changes here as Team Halpin gave Team Bramlage a whooping
and moved into 1st place and now leads the league in points. Team Flynn drops to 2nd just 6.5
points out of 1st. Team Buescher in 3rd
and Team Leirey in 4th and still holding the top of the upside down
list. Note: Point spread here increased to 154.5 points
separating 1st to 4th. See the Almighty Fork.
C Division:
Team Kientz held their lead as Team Breen
is in 2nd and only 29.5 points back.
Team Zachritz remains 3rd and Team Harms brings in 4th. Note: Point spread here increased to 142.5 separating
1st to 4th. See
the Almighty Fork.
D Division:
Team Bachmann remains in 1st but dropped to 4th in league
points, with Team Pfeiffer (Ill repeat that) Team
Pfeiffer moving into 2nd and only 6 points out of 1st. Team Vaughn dropped to 3rd but
remains close (11 points out). Team
Sue&Sherrill comes in 4th just 70 points out.
Seeding:
Again, the
season did not end yesterday, but if it ends tomorrow or if the Secretarys
rain dances work, Seeding will look like this:
Number 1
Seed Team Halpin
Number 2
Seed Team Kientz
Number 3 Seed
Team Schumacher
Number 4
Seed Team Bachmann
Number 5
Seed Team Flynn
Number 6
Seed Team Anderson
Team Vaughn
and Team Bramlage got knocked off seeding
as Team Anderson moved into 6th Seed and surprisingly Team Halpin came
from nowhere and jumped to Number 1 Seed.
Team Kientz went from 4th to 2nd Seed. Team Schumacher went from 5th to 3rd
Seed. Team Bachmann dropped to 4th
Seed and Team Flynn dropped to 5th Seed.
Where is the
rain when I need it?
The Almighty Fork:
Usually
by this time in the year the Fork has already struck (usually Team Schumacher)
but with the delayed start it has been getting well sharpened. It is now time to Fork the done teams.
Receiving
the Fork in Week 12 is Team Leirey (sorry but I just had to do it). Left off this is Team Harms since I did not
want to accidentally prod them before next weeks match.
Thoughts to Ponder for the Weak:
Going
over all the results the numbers can sometimes be confusing.
Seems
like only 50% of the teams won their matches while there was 100% attendance. The more I looked at it only 50% of the
players won their matches but not all were on the 50% of the teams that won. So, it
comes down to some of the losers were winners and some of the winners were
losers. My hopes are that this can confuse you, if not
okay, but this is better than the fine print.

Jim Fish got in the skins and won it on #18 so the payout of $0.00 goes to Jim Fish. Sorry to the others as you had to be in it to
win nothing.
