Position Round
#2
From the weather predications
earlier in the day I had my doubts if we would get this in. I think it has been years since we were able
to have both position rounds without rain-out make-ups. Keep knocking on wood that the whole season
goes like this.
This week we had 10 subs: Steve Ruehl (for Team Bramlage), Melody Oswalt
(for Team Freeman), Dan Varndell (for Team Kientz), Larry Oliver (for Team
Kiffmeyer), Greg Arkle (for Team Harms), Dave Randle, Jeff Witt, and Bob
Kendrach (for Team Halpin), Terry Buelow (for Team Leirey), and Mike Schwarberg
(for Team Schumacher).
Treasurer
report: Treasurer Chuck Reckers reports
that all league members have either paid their dues in full or made
arrangements to pay in full next week. Thank you!!!!
Good rounds this week:
Front
9 – Jim Westcott – 37, Jim Bramlage – 39;
Back
9 – Dave Randle – 38, Greg Arkle – 39.
Most Under
Average (Sandbagger Award): Mike Finn (5.3 under average), Mike Sullivan
(5.1 under average).
Most Over
Average (Hope to be a Sandbagger Some Day Award): Tom Bishop (5.8 over
average), Bill Zachritz (6.8 over average), Pat Harms (6.5 over average), Greg
Linfert (10.0 over average), Don Potter (5.3 over average).
Gift match of the weak: Bob Kendrach
establishing average as 54 giving 10 strokes to Greg Linfert. Greg shoots a 75 (10.0 over average) which
gives the team match to Team Halpin.
Division Rankings
A Division – Again defending Champs
Team Schumacher (4th seed) still holding onto the lead in division
but slid down to 4th in the seeding.
Team Leirey still held onto 2nd place. Team Flynn is holding 3rd place
with Team Donlin starting to catch up after a big win. No forks here this week.
B Division - Team Halpin (2nd
seed) with 3 subs and another win holds 1st place here. Team Buescher had the wind taken out of their
sail but still maintains 2nd place. Team Kiffmeyer comes in 3rd and
Team Harms come in 4th and both could still try and make a run for
it. I think best not to fork anyone here yet.
C Division - Team Zachritz (1st
seed) with a loss barely held onto 1st and league leader. Team Kientz (5th seed) is now only
11.5 points behind. Team Bramlage (6th
seed) with a big win again picked up some ground on the division leader and is
only 66.5 points back. Team Freeman brings
in 4th here and brings in 2nd from the top of the upside
down list.
D Division – Team Patmann (3rd
seed) again expanded their lead and moved up to 3rd seed. Team Breen brings in second with Team
Anderson catching up a little but way to late.
Team Pfeiffer still ranks at the top of the upside down list and we hope
they can tame some of their opponents.
Results of my predictions on
position round:
A
Division: Prediction: Team Schumacher
falling to Team Leirey, Team Flynn barely notching out Team Donlin:
I
was completely wrong on this one as Team Schumacher had a modest win and Team
Donlin (maybe motivated by my prediction) pulled in a big win.
B
Division: Prediction: Team Halpin (with 3 subs) kicking Team
Buescher tail, Team Kiffmeyer (without their leader) falling to Team Harms:
I
was right about my team (or should I say my subs) taking a win. I was wrong about Team Harms as Team
Kiffmeyer (again my prediction must have motivated them) took the win.
C
Division: Prediction: Team Zachritz getting a can of whoop ass from
Team Kientz, Team Bramlage falling to Team Freeman:
I
was right about Team Kientz and their can of whoop ass (or was that Jim Westcott
and Dan Varndell). I was wrong on Team
Freeman taking down Team Bramlage (I still hope Team Freeman can tame their division).
D
Division: Prediction: Team Patmann squeaking out a win over Team
Breen, Team Anderson getting crushed by Team Pfeiffer:
I was close on Team Patmann as they took a modest win over Team Breen. As for Team Pfeiffer I was hoping here for them to come alive, however, Team Anderson squeaked out a win over them.
Seeding: (1) Team Zachritz, (2) Team Halpin, (3) Team Patmann,
(4) Team Schumacher, (5) Team Kientz, (6) Team Bramlage.
Status
of the almighty Fork: Team Anderson –
week 5; Team Pfeiffer – week 7; Team Freeman – week 9.
Heard around the
clubhouse:
Tee
times have been reserved for the Semi-Finals/Finals & Scramble on August
31. Semi-Finals begin at 12:03, 12:12,
12:21, & 12:30 on front nine. Finals
make the turn on the back nine. Scramble
starting tee time is set for 2:45 then every 9 minutes (14 tee times). Per Jim Westcott (Scramble Chairman) the
format this year will be the same as last year.
With
that Team Anderson stated that they are positioning themselves to play in the
Scramble this year.
Word
had it that Team Halpin had 3 players abandon ship, since they were playing
against Team Buescher. Seems like a couple of subs may be looking for new jobs after they
took down Team Buescher. I
listened to Mr. Jeff Witt, subbing for Team Halpin, on how to get at his
brother Mr. Wayne Witt. I think I was
set up on that. Seems the harder I tried
Wayne kept kicking my butt. I lost along
with Jeff Witt losing. Must be Jeff’s
way of telling me how much he likes my driving the cart a couple of weeks ago.
Chuckle for the weak:
Mr Bill Zachritz having a complaint and taking it to the Complaint Committee
Chairmen (himself). He needs a staff.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt
Most of the regulars and subs in the
league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be
a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse. The sheet will have the names of all the
regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $5.00
entry fee for all games ($3.00 entry
fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt).
Place a check mark for each category
for which you are participating. If the
Briefcase is not out notate on your
scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match. First teams out please take the markers, last
teams in please bring markers in.
Always
read the fine print.
