IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter
Week 12 – July 15, 2015
I’ll start this out
with the big happening on #8. Seems Joe
Devereux had an Eagle on this hole and I witnessed it from the #15 green. What a shot he had from the #8 tee box. Not for sure of the camera he used but I will
send out the photo of the bald eagle as soon as he gets it to me.
A Division’s has Team Buescher increasing their lead. Team Anderson moved into second place as Team
Zachritz took a whooping. Team Kiffmeyer
brings in the bottom here.
B Division has Team Donlin increasing their lead. Team Pfeiffer
still has a chance here. Team Bramlage and
Team Freeman both suffered big losses and are falling ever so far behind.
C Division has Team Leirey running away with lead and taking
back the #1 seed position. Team Patmann
and Team Schumacher moved up with Team Harms moving to the bottom here.
D Division has Team Flynn still in the lead after suffering
a big loss and moving down to the #3 seed.
Team Kientz and Team Halpin picked up a little ground here but have a
long way to go. Team Breen I thought
would be a threat to the top teams (by spoiling their playoff hopes) but after
suffering a gigantic loss are almost assured of bringing in the top of the
upside down list.
With the 2nd position round (rain out make-up) behind
us and 6 weeks left before the play-offs, the competition gets down to the
seeded positions. So here is the current
seeding:
#1 Seed – Team Leirey, #2 Seed – Team Buescher, #3 Seed –
Team Flynn, #4 Seed Team Donlin, #5 Seed – Team Anderson, #6 Seed – Team
Zachritz.
We had 7 subs this week.
Subs this week were Greg Arkle, Jeff Barnhorst, Carol Goldstone, Ray
Woods, Brian Smith, Mike Schwarberg, and Dave Randle.
Good rounds this week were:
Front – Ray Vaughn – 37 and Frank Leirey – 38; Back – Don Buescher 37,
Jay Ackerman – 39, and Dave Randle – 39.
Most under average at 5+ under average: Brian Anderson shoots 40 (7.4 under average),
and the next 3 from Team Buescher on the back nine: Don Buescher shoots 37 (6.8
under average), Dave Randle shoots 39 (7.0 under average), and Wayne Witt
shoots 43 (6.5 under average).
There were 12 Birdies this week, 5 on the front and 7 on the
back.
And something that applied to several of us this past week:
A man was addressing the ball when an announcement came over the
loud-speaker: "Will the gentleman on hole number
one please not hit from the Ladies' tee box."
The man backs away, a little distracted, then approaches his ball again. As he
does, the same announcement comes over the loud-speaker: "Will the
gentleman on hole number one please not hit from the
Ladies' tee box."
The man is getting irritated now, and after backing away from his shot, approaches
his ball one more time. This time the announcement came: "We really need
the gentleman on hole number one to move off of the
Ladies' tee box!"
To which the man turns around and yells: "And I really need the announcer
to shut up and let me play my second shot!"
And this coming from President Tom Schumacher:
WHAT ARE WE NOT KNOWN FOR!!!
Most US States have at least one claim to fame.
For example, 95% of Bourbon produced in the US comes from Kentucky.
In addition, each of the 50 states has something about it that is "lesser-known".
In the July 1st Newsletter we published the first 10 in alphabetical order.
Following are the second 10 states in alphabetical order:
Hawaii -- Most sleep-deprived state.
Idaho -- Longest Main Street in America (33 miles long).
Illinois -- Home of the largest cookie factory (Nabisco).
Indiana -- Only state to ban alcohol sales on Sunday.
Iowa -- Largest population of pigs (which outnumber humans 7:1).
Kansas -- Most online porn page reviews per capita.
Kentucky -- Produces 95% of the country's bourbon.
Louisiana -- Largest porch swing (60 feet, fits at least 40 people).
Maine -- Most elderly state (median age is 44).
Maryland -- Most millionaire households per capita (7.7%).
And
words/thoughts to ponder from Mr. Tim Feldman:
Something for
seniors to do to keep those "aging" gray cells active!
1. Johnny's mother had three children. The first child was named April. The
second child was named May.
...What was the third child's name?
2. There is a clerk at the butcher shop, he is five
feet ten inches tall and he wears size 13 sneakers. What
does he weigh?
3. Before Mt. Everest was discovered, what
was the highest mountain in the world?
4. How much dirt is there in a hole that
measures two feet by three feet by four feet?
5. What word in the English language is
always spelled incorrectly?
6. Billy was born on December 28th, yet his birthday is always in the summer. How is
this possible?
7. In California, you cannot take a picture of
a man with a wooden leg. Why not?
8. What was the President's name in
1975?
9. If you were running a race, and you
passed the person in 2nd place, what place would you be
in now?
10. Which is correct to say, "The
yolk of the egg are white" or "The yolk of the egg is
white"?
11. If a farmer has 5 haystacks in one field and 4 haystacks in the other
field, how many haystacks would he have
if he combined them all in another field?
Here are the Answers
1. Answer: Johnny, of course
2. Answer: Meat.
3. Answer: Mt. Everest; it just wasn't
discovered yet. [You're not very good at this are you?]
4. Answer: There is no dirt in a hole.
5. Answer: Incorrectly
6. Answer: Billy lives in the
Southern Hemisphere
7. Answer: You can 't take pictures with a wooden leg. You need a camera to
take pictures.
8. Answer: Same as is it now - Barack
Obama [Oh, come on.....]
9. Answer: You would be in 2nd. Well,
you passed the person in second place, not first.
10. Answer: Neither, the yolk of the
egg is yellow [duh!]
11. Answer: One. If he combines all of
his haystacks, they all become one big one.

league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For
those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the
tables in the clubhouse.
The
sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for
subs to write in their names.
$3.00
entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies; and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt ($5.00 for all). Place
a check mark for each category for which you are participating. If the Briefcase is not out notate on your
