IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 11 – July 5,2023

I will start this off with a big ‘what was’ Team Kientz and Team Snowden doing this past week.  They played the Back nine but did their recap on the Front nine recap sheet.  They also had a couple of players listed in the wrong order and incorrect scores written in.  Was it the heat or just a lack of beer?

Team Vaughn did it again.  I put all my money on 2022 League Champs Team Zachritz taking them down, but that didn’t happen.  Team Vaughn’s winning streak is now 11 wins no losses, best winning streak I have seen in this league.  Can they go all the way?  My thoughts are there is no one out there to stop them.

Treasurer Chuck Reckers reports that there are only 4 regulars still due on League Fees.  He thanks all those who have paid in full.

The course staff tells me there was one group in our league that they had to warn to pick up the pace.  To all others, thanks for moving it along and playing ready golf.

July 12th is our second position round.  Secretary predictions are there will be lead changes in the A and C Divisions.  B Division is pretty much safe and D Division lead is a run-away.   Secretary predictions of winning teams:  A Division I predict Team Kientz beating Team Crouch, Team Broadus for sure beating Team Zachritz; B Division I predict Team Flynn winning easily, Team Halpin (partiality here) winning over Team Harms;  C Division I predict Team Bramlage taking down Team Bachmann, Team Kiffmeyer easily beating Team Bill Anderson; D Division Team Vaughn continues their winning streak by beating Team Anderson, Team Snowden coming in with a win versus their vacant pick.

The secretary has a dozen experienced golf balls for anyone who can pick all the winning teams.  Entry must be received prior to play on Wednesday July 12.  More than one individual guessing all right teams, names will be pulled out of the hat.  All entries must be received prior to play on July 12, 2023.  League Secretary reserves the right to change the rules at his discretion.  Eligibility is open to all regulars, restricted subs, subs, and those who were members of the league, again at the discretion of the League Secretary.  Bogus entries will be discretely disposed of.  Any disputes on the rules of this will be discarded.

Continuing Reminder on the schedule containing two tee times for the teams versus the Vacant team.  All tee times following Team 12 on the regular schedule will be moved up one time earlier.  This will be posted on the website each week on the newsletter tab for the following week and sent via e-mail.

This past week we had 8 subs playing:

Restricted sub:  Tom Berns (Team Vaughn), Mike Schwarberg (Team Kientz).

Subs:  Tye Vonallmen (Team Buescher), Greg Arkle (Team Harms), Tom Schumacher (Team Crouch), Frank Leirey (Team Crouch), Mary Jo Leirey (Team Crouch), Mike Ruff (Team Kientz).  Thanks for being there.

Team Broadus played versus the Vacant Team 12 this week.  Again Team 4 was pulled out of the hat and Team Broadus won their match.  For July 12th Position Round Team Snowden is 3rd place in D Division will score versus 2nd place Team Anderson on the recap.  Sorry Team Anderson “you don’t get any extra points.”

We are still looking for input into the newsletter.  No complaints and no gripes, just fun stuff.  Please use the recap sheet to add any unusual or funny occurrences, great feats, etc. that happen on the course.
