IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

July 2, 2014

This was another week of a short thunderstorm delay.  I was informed by the course that the horn blew when the storm was 4 miles out and lighting struck within 1 mile of the course.  Luckily it moved out quickly and all rounds were completed.

Reminder that July 9 will be the make-up for the rain-out on June 4.

Division leaders are:

A Division – Team Donlin (leading league in points by 2),

B Division – Team Kiffmeyer (and still holding a slim lead),

C Division – Team Bunkelman & Team Bramlage (tied on points),

D Division – Team Anderson (2nd in league points but not by much).

Current Wildcards – Team Zachritz & either Team Bunkelman or Bramlage

It seems like the Fork has motivated Team Schumacher, however they remain forked.  Team Freeman dodged the Fork this week with a nice win, but they are still on thin ice and I still have hope for them.  Team Harms is starting to go on thin ice but for them I still have hope, so the fork can wait another week.  Team Kientz is also treading of thin ice and I am losing hope on them.

Summary of Teams Forked:  Team Schumacher, Team Patmann.

We had one new sub this week.  Welcome to Garry Melish.  Also, we had one new sub that was a no-show.  There were 5 subs this week.  Subs were Garry Melish, Mike Schwarberg, Will Freeman, Bill Holocher, and Tony Ciavarella.  Thanks for being there.

There are still some players that owe the second half fees.  Remember to bring on July 9.  If anyone has any questions, please contact Chuck at 513-368-1612.

"Thoughts of the Weak" (from League President Thomas G. Schumacher)

What can you find in Manila that you can't find in Tokyo???

Answer to this will be in next weeks newsletter.

Words of WisDumb from Mr. Feldman:  (forwarded from Hank Broge)

As I was lying around, pondering the problems of the world,
I realized that at my age I don't really give a rat's arse anymore.

... If walking is good for your health, the postman would be immortal.

... A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water, but is still fat.

... A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years, while

... A tortoise doesn't run and does mostly nothing, yet it lives for 150 years.

And you tell me to exercise?? I don't think so.

Just grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune

to remember the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Now that I'm older here's what I've discovered:

1. I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.

2. My wild oats are mostly enjoyed with prunes and all-bran.

3. I finally got my head together, and now my body is falling apart.

4. Funny, I don't remember being absent-minded.

5. Funny, I don't remember being absent-minded.

6. If all is not lost, then where the heck is it?

7. It was a whole lot easier to get older, than to get wiser.

8. Some days, you're the top dog; some days you're the lamp post.

9. I wish the buck really did stop here; I sure could use a few of them.

10. Kids in the back seat cause accidents.

11. Accidents in the back seat cause kids.

12. It's hard to make a comeback when you haven't been anywhere.

13. The world only beats a path to your door when you're in the bathroom.

14. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he'd have put them on my knees.

15. When I'm finally holding all the right cards, everyone wants to play chess.

16. It’s not hard to meet expenses . . . they're everywhere.

17. The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.

18. These days, I spend a lot of time thinking about the hereafter .. . . I go somewhere

to get something, and then wonder what I'm "here after".

19. Funny, I don't remember being absent-minded.

20. HAVE I SENT THIS MESSAGE TO YOU BEFORE … ??????

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt.  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams please bring markers in.
