IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

June 25, 2014

This week it looks like the competition is beginning to heat up.  There was a short delay for thunderstorm within the area.  It quickly moved out, thank goodness.

Welcome back to Pat Harms.

There were 12 Birdies this week.  Special mention for the three Birdies by Greg Arkle, and two by Tim Feldman and two by Larry Bunkelman.

Some of the good rounds shot were:  Front nine – Mike Donlin (37), Matt Donlin (38), and Greg Arkle (38); and Back nine – Jay Ackerman (39).

Team Donlin pulled out a win after spotting Team Harms 34 strokes.  Mike Donlin shot 5.8 under his average and Matt Donlin shot 7.5 under his average.  This was quite impressive.   And Team Anderson took another loss this week.  I think they forgot their team shirts.

Division leaders are:

A Division – Team Donlin (leading league in points),

B Division – Team Kiffmeyer (still holding a slim lead),

C Division – Team Bunkelman (3rd in league points and still hanging in there),

D Division – Team Anderson (2nd in league points but not by much).

Team Schumacher suffered another loss and maybe needs to get some team shirts, and remains Forked.  Team Patmann fell through the ice this week and somehow got forked just one week after Team Schumacher.  Team Freeman, I still have hope for them, and have another week before the fork may find them.

We had one new sub this week.  Welcome to Ray Woods.  We had 7 subs this week.  Subs were Greg Arkle, Brian Smith, E. John Thomas, Will Freeman, Jeff Witt, Melody Oswalt, and Ray Woods.  Thanks for being there.

And note from Treasurer Chuck Reckers.

Here is a summary of outstanding greens fees. Team 1 has one player who owes 86.50.  Team 2 has one player who owes 108.50.  Team 3 has one player who owes 108.50.  Team 4 has three players who owe 108.50.  Team 5 has one player who owes 108.50.  Team 6 has one player who owes 108.50.  Team 7 has two players who owe 108.50.  Team 9 has three players who owe 108.50.  Team 10 has two players who owe 108.50.  Team 12 has four players who owe 108.50.  Team 13 has one player who owes 108.50.  Team 14 has two players who owe 108.50 and one player who owes 77.50.  Team 15 has one player who owes 108.50.  Team 16 has three players who owe 108.50.  Thank you for all players who are full paid!!! For the above players, no big deal on the oversight. Just bring your checks next week. Thanks, Chuck Reckers.

"Thoughts of the Weak" (from League President Thomas G. Schumacher)

(Note: I did tell Tom that I do not want to put political stuff in the newsletter but this might be amusing.)

Whether Conservative, Liberal or Labor, I think you'll get a kick out of this!

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, 'What is Politics?'

Dad says, 'Well son, let me try to explain it this way:
I am the head of the family, so call me The Prime Minister.
Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government.
We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People.
The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class.
And your baby brother, we will call him the Future.
Now think about that and see if it makes sense.'

So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.

Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him.
He finds that the baby has severely soiled his nappy.
So the little boy goes to his parent's room and finds his mother asleep.

Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room.
Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny.
He gives up and goes back to bed.

The next morning, the little boy say's to his father, 'Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now.

The father says, 'Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.'

The little boy replies, 'The Prime Minister is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep.
The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit.'

Words of WisDumb from Mr. Feldman:

(forwarded from Hank Broge)

“I’m not saying let’s go kill all the stupid people….  I’m just saying let’s remove all the warning labels and let the problem sort itself out.”

“I changed my car horn to gunshot sounds….People move out of the way much faster.”

“To me ‘drink responsibly’ means don’t spill it.”

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt.  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams please bring markers in.
