IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 9 – June 24, 2020

Reminder on scorecards that the League Secretary Charlie Halpin needs to receive the scorecards to complete the recap sheets.  Scorecards can be hand to, emailed, or text to Charlie Halpin.  It is okay to receive double cards from teams.  Team captains or team members should verify scores and then get the scorecards to Charlie Halpin as soon as possible so the recap sheets can be completed.

Every week I will post this about carts and fees.  Green fees and cart fees are still being paid by the League Treasurer Chuck Reckers.  For those okay with riding 2 in a cart with teammates that is now acceptable.   For those who said they will walk but wish to change to walk front and ride back or ride both sides, you need to let the League Treasurer Chuck Reckers know by Tuesdays 6 p.m. so he can update his records and notify the course on number of carts we will need.  Also, if you are having a sub that is different on walk or ride you need to let Chuck know about that.  If a player wants to commit to ride the back or both sides Chuck will update his records and collect the cart fees as part of the second installment in mid to late July.  Reminder that no changing your mind at the course.

Subs this past week:  Mark Anderson (Team Halpin),  Brad Ferguson (Team Buescher), Carol Goldstone (Team BKNS), Mike Schwarberg (Team Kientz), Jeff Barnhorst (Team Schumacher), and new sub Sheldon Anderson (Team Anderson (Brian’s older twin?)).  Thanks for being there.

Division Standings:

A Division:  Defending League Champs Team Kiffmeyer (with their 1st season loss) dropped to 3rd as Team Bramlage moved into 1st.  Team Schumacher moved into 2nd as Team Anderson dropped to 4th.   Note:  This division is still brining in the most points.

Division B:  Team Flynn moved into 1st as Team Halpin dropped to 2nd.  Team Leirey remains 3rd with Team Buescher (still looking for a win) holding the bottom or the top of the upside down list.

Division C:  Team Breen still has the lead with Team Kientz moving into 2nd.  Team Zachritz falls to 3rd and Team Harms (with their 1st season win) brings in 4th.

Division D:  Team Bachmann still holds the lead.  Team Vaughn in 2nd with Team Pfeiffer in 3rd, and Team BKNS in 4th

Teams with no wins:  Team Buescher.

Seeding:

If the season ended yesterday, Seeding would look like this:

Number 1 Seed – Team Bramlage

Number 2 Seed – Team Bachmann

Number 3 & Number 4 Seed – Team Flynn and Team Breen (coin toss)

Number 5 Seed – Team Schumacher

Number 6 Seed – Team Kiffmeyer

Note that posting this could bring bad luck to those teams listed.  Then there are 10 more teams that will try to make this list.

Heard in the Clubhouse (Outside):

Seems our new regular Tom Nonno celebrated his 24th wedding anniversary on the golf course this past Wednesday.  Shows that golf is more important than anything.  Only thing with that is now it will cost him a new front door that his wife has been wanting and an expensive dinner.

Words of Whizdumb:

Seems there was an incident on #8 and #15 this past week.   One of the Halpin’s tried to take out one of the other Halpin’s with a flying golf ball.  In which case the one Halpin opponent tried to take out the one Halpin with a flying golf ball and then the other Halpin opponent tried to take out the one Halpin with a flying golf ball.  Seems golf balls were flying everywhere.  Wise to avoid standing nearby either one or the other.
