IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 9 – June 22, 2016

Another week of luckily dodging the rain.  Also another week of the skins/greenie/long putt pot being short $5.

This week we had 9 subs:  Shari Anderson (for Team Harms), Jeff Witt & Bob Kendrach (for Team Halpin), Izzy Jewell & Terry Buelow (for Team Kiffmeyer), Melody Oswalt (for Team Leirey), Ken Holloway (for Team Flynn), Bonnie Harrison (for Team Freeman), and Mike Schwarberg (for Team Schumacher).

Latest word on Mr. Ed Kiffmeyer is his surgery went well.  He had some after surgery pain which is gone now.  Per his doctor he will be back to driving the ball 250 yards again (something he never could do).  He will be starting rehab and he hopes to be back on the course by late August or early September.  His team needs him sooner though, so hurry back Ed.

This coming from Treasurer Chuck Reckers: second half of league dues are due on June 29th.  Chuck sent e-mails to the team captains on who owes and how much is due.  Team pouches will be in the briefcase to put payment in.  Any questions on this send an e-mail to Chuck at cmjrecke@gmail.com.

Good rounds this week:  Front 9 – Jeff Witt – 37, Lee Crouch – 37, Jay Ackerman – 38, Don Buescher – 39; Back 9 – Ray Vaughn – 37, Bill Zachritz – 38, Mark Caporale – 39, Ken Holloway – 39, Jim Bramlage – 39..

Most Under Average (Sandbagger Award):  Lee Crouch (6.7 under average), Don Buescher (7.3 under average), Greg Linfert (++ under average), Chuck Reckers (6.8 under average), Jim Bramlage (5.3 under average), and Ron Michael (5.0 under average).

Division Rankings:

A Division - defending Champs Team Schumacher (2) lost steam again (lack of leadership this week) and is slowly losing ground as Team Flynn moved back up to second with Team Leirey and Team Donlin falling back.

B Division - still has Team Halpin (3) in the lead with Team Buescher jumping into second place and starting their run.  Team Harms and Team Kiffmeyer are still hanging in there but both need their leaders back soon.

C Division - has Team Kientz (1) in the lead (division and league) with Team Zachritz (5) hot on their tail. Team Bramlage (6) (took down Team Schu) is making a big come back and keeping themselves in the competition.  Team Freeman is still falling and have put themselves in second from the top of the upside down list and are hereby Forked.

D Division - has Team Breen (4) taking the lead (I’ll repeat that) Team Breen taking the lead.  Team Patmann is close behind after suffering a loss.  Team Anderson (the Shirts) picked up a little ground and are hanging back there and must be waiting for the home stretch.  Team Pfeiffer at the bottom is on top of the upside down list.

Status of the almighty Fork:  Team Anderson – week 5; Team Pfeiffer – week 7; Team Freeman – week 9.

Heard around the clubhouse:

After last week’s informant information about the League President’s purported assassination attempt, seems the league president went into hiding in a safe place on vacation.  Again thanks to Mr. Chris Kerns for the info but he had a lack of anything this week except for something about a sewer lid and why it is round.  At least his answer to that seems logical.

Then there was the comment about the girls in the pretty shirts or are those blouses Team 8.  That was from Jeff 2 not Jeff 1.

Chuckle for the week:

Left of what tree, the one with green leaves or the one with green leaves, that one or that one?  I did it right so how can it be wrong?  Thanks Jeff 1 for the guidance, just wish my ball had better guidance.

Math for league photographer:  41+18 is not 69, unless your mind is in the gutter.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt.  For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names.  $5.00 entry fee for all games ($3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt).  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.
