IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 9 – June 24, 2015

A Division’s lead switched back to Team Buescher with Team Zachritz falling 24 points behind.  Team Anderson is slowly dropping back and catching up to Team Kiffmeyer at the bottom with the fork in their near future.

B Division still has Team Donlin in the lead with Team Pfeiffer only one point behind.  Team Bramlage is slowly dropping back and Team Freeman may have the bottom of this division locked in.  Team Bramlage and Team Freeman are both on notice that the Fork may get them next week.

C Division’s Team Leirey suffered a loss but is still sitting in the 1st seed position.  Team Patmann, Team Harms, and Team Schumacher (forked) tried to make things happen but may have to settle for maybe next year.

D Division has Team Flynn with a comfortable lead (#2 Seed).  Team Kientz and Team Halpin I can’t say much here since I still can’t Fork my team.  Team Breen (forked) even after a nice win looks like they are destined to keep their same team number next year.

We had 4 subs this week.  Subs this week were Terry Buelow, Dave Vincent, Shari Anderson, and Will Freeman.

Good scores this week were:   Front:  Lee Crouch – 36, Ray Vaughn – 38, Jim Westcott - 39; and Back:  Jay Ackerman – 38, Jeff Witt – 38, Bill Zachritz - 38.

Most under average at 5+ under average:  Charlie Halpin shoots a 44 (8.3 under average), Rick Taylor shoots 46 (8.0 under average), and Lee Crouch shoots 36 (7.5 under average).

Side note:  Overall there were only 32 individual match winners and only 8 teams won their matches???  Seems like these numbers come up the same every week???  Also, most of us in the league golf more in one week than Tiger Woods in a month???

There were 8 Birdies this week, 7 on the front and 1 on the back, no Skins were won on the back.

Gift match of the week:  This has to go to Team Schumacher over Team Anderson.  Tom Schumacher shoots 9.2 over average but rest of Team Schumacher crushes Team Anderson.

Heard around the Clubhouse:  Not much here since Mr. Kerns was quite this week except for being followed closely on the course by the beer girl making sure he did not sprinkle the bushes.   Oh, and Mr. Ed Miller was campaigning again for League President as Mr. Ed Kiffmeyer was, I think, announcing his candidacy for Secretary, I hope.

Treasurer Chuck Reckers has posted the payments for the second installment.  Here is the status from Chuck:

“Thank you to all league members who are current in their league dues/greens fees.

As it stands now, 21 league members still owe the second payment of 173.50. Please bring your checks next week.  Thank you, Chuck Reckers”

And this coming from President Tom Schumacher:

A Few Quick Smiles

A man saved his girlfriend's phone number on
his mobile as ˜Low Battery."
Whenever she calls him, in his absence,
his wife takes the phone and plugs it into the charger.
Talk about clever!

A government survey has shown that
91 per cent of Indian and Filipino immigrants
come to the US so that they
can see their own doctor.

I've just fitted strobe lights in the bedroom.
It makes it look like she's moving during sex now.

Such an unfair world:
When a man talks dirty to a woman
it's considered sexual harassment.
When a woman talks dirty to a man,
it's $5.50/min (charges  may vary.

Just booked a table for Valentine's Day
for me and the wife.
Bound to end in tears though
.......she's lousy at pool.

Got a new Jack Russell pup today.
He's mainly black and brown with
just a small white area.
I've named him California.

If you get an email telling you
that you can catch swine flu from
tins of ham then delete it.
It's Spam.

They say that sex is the best form of exercise.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but
I don't think 2 minutes and 15 seconds
every 3 months is going to
shift this beer belly.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies; and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt ($5.00 for all).  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.
