IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 8 – June 17, 2015

What a day.  Rain, rain, and more rain.  All but 4 teams finished 9 holes, the other 4 completed 6 holes, so the week counts as an official round.  Again a reminder on any gripes about the course, go to the CRC web site at www.california.cincygolf.org “Give us your feedback” to complete a brief survey.

A Division had Team Zachritz take the lead away from Team Buescher by 2.5 points.  Team Anderson suffered another loss and has Team Kiffmeyer still trying to move out of the bottom.  The fork awaits Team Anderson and Team Kiffmeyer.

B Division has Team Donlin in the lead with a slight lead over Team Pfeiffer.  Team Bramlage suffered a big loss and moved closer to the bottom as Team Freeman is making their move out of the cellar.  Team Bramlage and Team Freeman are both on the awaiting Fork list.

C Division has Team Leirey running away with the lead in the Division and League.  Team Patmann, Team Harms, and Team Schumacher (forked) will have a lot of work to do.  Team Patmann and Team Harms are also on the awaiting Fork list.

D Division has Team Flynn running away with the lead.  Team Kientz and Team Halpin are moving ever closer to the Fork (I still can’t Fork my team).  Team Breen (forked) still commands the upside down list.

We had 4 subs this week.  Subs this week were Greg Arkle, Larry Oliver, Mike Schwarberg, and Mike Breen.

Good scores this week were:   Front:  Frank Leirey – 38, and Jay Ackerman - 39; and Back:  Steve Duddey - 39.

Most under average at 5+ under average:  Jake Job-Rivera shoots 43 (5.0 under average) and Dale Schaber shoots 44 (6.2 under average).   Side note:  Overall there were only 31 winners and 2 ties.  Out of our 16 teams there were 2 teams that tied and only 7 teams that won their matches.

There were 12 Birdies this week, 7 on the front and 5 on the back.

Gift match of the week:  The rain wins this.

Wow what happened matches:  Dale Schaber 6.2 under vs. Erich Kientz 10 over average and Steve Duddey 3.3 under average vs. Jimmy Smith 10 over average.  Help!!!

Heard around the Clubhouse:  Mr. Chris Kerns had a hard time out on the course.  Seems out of all the years he has played the urge finally hit him and relieve was in the bushes.  Just when he gets started the beer girl comes up and ask if he needs a beer.  The rest of the story I will leave for Mr. Kerns to explain to anyone who wants to know, since at the same time Mr. Bill Z was explaining about Jim (Caitlyn) Bramlage getting all wet.  Also at the same time discussion was being held about Mr. Ed Miller announcing his candidacy for President.

And Finally this comes from Mr. Don Buescher (which should explain his healthy attitude):

A glass of wine:

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine and

those who don't and

are always seen with a bottle of water in their hand:

As Ben Franklin said:

In wine there is wisdom,

In beer there is freedom,

In water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials,

scientists have demonstrated that

if we drink 1 liter of water each day,

at the end of the year

we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli,

(E. Coli)-bacteria found in feces.

In other words,

we are consuming 1 kilo of poop annually.

However,

We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer

(or rum, whiskey, or other liquor)

because alcohol has to go through a purification process

of boiling, filtering and fermenting.

Remember:

Water = Poop,

Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,

than to drink water and be full of Shit.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information:

I'm doing it as a public service.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies; and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt ($5.00 for all).  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.
