IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 7 – June 7, 2017

Another good day on the course, a little cool but some hot play.  Everyone made it on time with no delays due to President Trump being in town.  We had a threat of rain but managed to get all rounds in.

This week we had 8 subs:  Bob Kendrach (for Team Halpin), Ken Holloway (for Team Flynn), Mary Jo Leirey (for Team Leirey), Don Bazsika (for Team Anderson), Steve Ruehl (for Team Bramlage), Izzy Jewel (for Team Kiffmeyer), Greg Arkle (for Team Harms), and new sub Kelly Johnson (for Team Schumacher).  Thanks for being there.

Good rounds this week were:

Front – Kevin Bachmann – 36, Jimmy Smith – 38, Ken Holloway – 39, Wayne Witt – 39.

Back – Steve Ruehl – 37, Mike Donlin – 39.

Match of the Weak:

This would be the first that I have seen this (and what are the odds).  The match between Team Pfeiffer and Team Breen was even on strokes for all players, with no strokes given.  Final results were Team Pfeiffer brought in a big win.

Now seems like the right time for most under average and most over average (5.0 or greater or what some call sandbaggers):

Most Under Average:

Don Bazsika shoots 57 (8.0 under average), Mike Sullivan shoots 53 (7.9 under average), Wayne Witt shoots 39 (7.0 under average), Jimmy Smith shoots 38 (6.4 under average), Mike Donlin shoots 39 (6.1 under average), Pat Harms shoots 51 (5.6 under average).

Most Over Average:

Ken Thoerner shoots 61 (11 over average), Ron Michael shoots 55 (7.2 over average), Greg Arkle shoots 48 (6.0 over average), Bob Kendrach shoots 55 (5.4 over average), Lori Johnson shoots 57 (5.0 over average).

Status of the Almighty Fork:

Week 6 - Team Schumacher.

On the Fork warning list is Team Freeman, Team Patmann, & Team Breen.

From League President Tom Schumacher:  Missed yet another post time.

Heard in the Clubhouse:

Word has it Mr. Ed Kiffmeyer was concerned about the location of the tee boxes and pin placement on the greens.  He brought this up to course management and course management was more than willing to work with Mr. Kiffmeyer.  Final word has it Mr. Kiffmeyer may be purchasing the course.  Hope he cuts down some of those trees that keep getting in the path of my ball.

Mr. Informant filled in his substitute teammate on the beer girl incident from last year.  Seems the beer girl probably didn’t see anything major.  Thanks to Mrs. Kelly Johnson for clarification on this.  Informants name will never be released so Mr. Chris Kerns will stay anonymous.

There are still some unclaimed golf balls in the briefcase.  If not claimed soon I will consider them abandoned.  As you know any found ball in the woods can be considered abandoned.  Thanks to Mr. Jim Grassinger for clarifying this.

From the League Rules:

Question in the clubhouse was what happens when you hit the ball in a burnt out tree stump.   Per the course management the burnt out stumps are considered ground under repair and there is a free drop out of it.

Thank you to Mr. Tim Feldman for putting your ball in the burnt out stump and thanks to Mr. Ed Miller with checking with course management.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt.  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.

IRS Golf League Secretary

Complaint Committee:  Mr. Bill Zachritz, Mr. Z, Mr. Bill Z., Zac, and Mr. Zachritz: Your 1st week loss still remains unchanged.  Your volunteering to run for Secretary and President is very commendable and with the right political backing you are a great candidate.  Where would the league be without such a great complaint committee.  That is not a question, it is just something you can ponder.  For those reading this that is nice.  For those not reading this it is just a straight line on the last page.
