IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week  6 – May 29, 2024

Found out that most do not read this great piece of work each week, as last week’s newsletter could have had an effect on one of the rounds this week.  See the next paragraph for what could have been a winning moment for a losing team.

Repeat on this: - Ground Under Repair:   Hole #11 has an area on the right side of the fairway near the location of a tee shot that has high grass and mesh to help with the growth of grass.  This will be designated as “ground under repair” and if your ball comes to rest in this area, please take a free drop behind this area no closer to the hole.

Still looking to fill Team 16, we need 4 permanent regulars or 4 paying subs (they would be 3rd place in D Division).  Now would be the best time to fill the team.

The subs playing this week: Brandon Arkle (Team Harms), Mick McMullen (Team Flynn), Farlon Smith (Team Buescher), and Terry Boland (Team Halpin/Scott).

This week being a position round, Team Ellsworth in D Division competed vs 2nd place team in D Division (Team Bramlage).  Next week Team Broadus will compare scores vs pull team from hat (D Division 4, 8, 12).

SANDBAGGER OF THE WEAK (see Article IV of the League Rules):

Sandbagger of the WEAK (5 or more over average):

Dan Scott – 13.5 over average (6.0 over last week) OOOOOCH

Dale Schaber – 8.0 over average

Jim Fish – 6.8 over average

Patrick Buescher – 6.2 over average

Dick Warren – 5.8 over average

Jack Diesel – 5 over average

Erich Kientz – 5 over average (8.5 over last week)

Sandbaggers of the Weak (5 or more under average):

Jeff Elsbernd – 5.2 under (7.0 over last week)

POSITION ROUND PICK THE WINNERS

Results of May 29th position round: .  The secretary was right about lead changes in A Division and C Division.  B Division and D Division leads remained the same with changes to the seeding on several teams.

Secretary predictions of winning teams:

- A Division Secretary prediction was true as Team Bachmann was victorious over defending League Champs Team Flynn.  This moved Team Bachmann to 1st place in Division and into the #3 Seed.  Team Vaughn was victorious over Team Crouch leaving Team Crouch at the bottom of their division and at the top of the upside down wind/loss and points list.

- B Division the secretary got this all wrong as Team Buescher (#1 Seed) squeaked by a win over Team Broadus (should have read the newsletter about hole #11),  Team Broadus dropped to 3rd place in division, and Team Brian Anderson victorious over Team Halpin/Scott.  Team Brian Anderson moved into 1st place in division and the #5 Seed.

- C Division secretary prediction true as Team Kientz was victorious over Team Bill Anderson and moved Team Kientz into 1st place in division and #4 seed.  Team Kiffmeyer was victorious over Team Harms and moved into 2nd place in the division.

- D Division secretary got this all wrong as Team Zachritz (#2 seed) was victorious over Team Bramlage, and Team Ellsworth victorious over the vacant Team 16 (played 2nd place in D Division team).

Seed standings as of 5/29/24:

#1 Seed – Team Buescher

#2 Seed – Team Zachritz

#3 Seed – Team Bachmann

#4 Seed – Team Kientz

#5 Seed – Team Brian Anderson

#6 Seed – Team Bramlage

Pick the winning teams: The secretary only received one entry for this so Ken Thoerner picked 6 winners (secretary had 4) and he will receive one dozen very high quality somewhat experienced (read the fine print) golf balls.  . League Secretary reserves the right to change the rules at his discretion.  Eligibility is open to all regulars, restricted subs, subs, and those who were members of the league, again at the discretion of the League Secretary.  Only 1 entry per individual.  Bogus entries will be discretely disposed of.  Any disputes on the rules of this will be discarded.  The chances of winning this is 1 in a bazillion maybe.  Experienced golf balls could be replaced by new balls waiting for the experience.

And for those into statistics: an amazing fact this past week were there were only 50% of the teams winning their match and somehow only 50% of the teams lost.
