IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter
Week 6 – May 31, 2017
Excellent
weather as Position Round #1 was completed.
This
week we had 6 subs: Mary Jo Leirey
(3)(for Team Freeman), Steve Ruehl (3)(for Team Bramlage), Izzy Jewell (2)(for
Team Kiffmeyer), Dave Spaeth (3)(for Team Breen), Matt McRoberts
(3)(for Team Buescher), and Cindy Ellsworth (6)(for Team Pfeiffer).
Good rounds this
week were:
Front – Ray Vaughn – 37, Steve Ruehl
– 37, and Bill Zachritz – 38.
Back
– Kevin Bachmann – 36.
League Secretary outcome of
predictions of position round:
A
Division:
Team Schumacher
(using wrong side recap) getting forked with Team Bramlage (miss calculating
handicap) winning.
·
I
was right on the win going to Team Bramlage.
Surprisingly the correct recap sheet was used and Mr. Bramlage
calculated the handicap correctly. Team
Schumacher gets the Fork.
Team Kiffmeyer
squeaking by on Team Patmann as Mr. Z can’t quite do it.
·
I
was way off on this one as Mr. Z somehow pulled in another win as Team Patmann
defeated Team Kiffmeyer. Note: Mr. Z was upset that Mr. Ackerman wasn’t
there.
B
Division:
Team Kientz
dropping their second game as Team Flynn takes them down.
·
I
hit it right on this prediction as Team Kientz was amply defeated by Team
Flynn.
Team Pfeiffer
vs. Team Buescher will be too close to call, probably come out as a tie.
·
I
was close on this as the individual match and medal points were close and the
match was decided by Team medal and the win going to Team Buescher.
C
Division:
Team Anderson
will definitely fall to Team Harms in the biggest upset this year.
·
Slightly
wrong on this prediction as Team Medal points were split and Team Anderson
barely squeaked out a win over Team Harms.
Must have been the Shirts.
Team Vaughn will
finally find their way and send Team Freeman to the cellar.
·
Called
this one right as Team Vaughn sent Team Freeman to the bottom.
D
Division:
Team Halpin vs.
Team Slye has the secretary on edge. But
I will put my wager on Team Halpin in what will be a close match.
·
Another
correct call as Team Halpin pulled out a win over Team Slye. Thank you teammates.
Team Leirey vs.
Team Breen should be a close match also with Team Leirey falling to Team Breen.
·
Close
match but I was wrong on the outcome as Team Leirey was able to take medal and
squeak out the win over Team Breen.
Status of the Almighty Fork: End of May and the Fork is sharpened and has claimed it’s first victim. Officially Forked is Team Schumacher (no
foreseeable future). On the Fork warning
list is Team Freeman.
From League President Tom
Schumacher: Missed another post time.
Heard in the
Clubhouse:
Mr. Frank Leirey commenting on his balls.
Someone in the gallery commenting on the color. Mrs. MaryJo Leirey’s
comments not printable.
From
Mr. Bill Zachritz: “What’s the deal with
Jay Ackerman, he ducked out on me.”
To
Mr. Bill Zachritz: Take that to the
complaint committee, you should have read the fine print.
From the League Rules:
Article X.
Forfeiture of Points Due to No-Show Players: Team with less than three (3) players will
forfeit team medal, if both teams have less than three (3) players they both
forfeit team medal and play for only 72 of the 90 points. (However there is a
statement in the old rules that each of the teams would split the eighteen (18)
forfeiture points, this makes the above statement erroneous.) Four (4) team medal points will be awarded
to a player who has no opponent.
This rule is only in effect when there is one no-show player out of the
eight scheduled players. The remaining
fourteen (14) medal points, which are scored below the individual subtotal line
on the score sheets, will be contested by the three matches played, as in a
regular match. The effect of this rule
awards a player who has no opponents twenty two (22) points, nine (9) match
points, nine (9) individual points and four (4) team medal points.
Article XV.
Team Match Scoring: Each team
will consist of four individual matches of eighteen (18) points and team medal
of eighteen (18) points, totaling 90 points.
The individual matches consist of nine (9) points per hole match play
and nine (9) points medal play (total strokes).
The handicap will be calculated at 90%.
The team medal contest is determined by stroke difference between the
teams of each individual medal contest.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt
Most of the regulars and subs in the
league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For
those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the
tables in the clubhouse.
The
sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for
subs to write in their names.
$3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and
$1.00 entry fee for Long Putt. Place
a check mark for each category for which you are participating. If the Briefcase is not out notate on your
scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match. First teams out please take the markers, last
teams in please bring markers in.

Complaint Committee: Mr. Bill Zachritz, Mr. Z, Mr. Bill Z., Zac, and Mr. Zachritz: Your 1st week loss
remains unchanged. Remember as the
complaint committee you cannot resolve a single or multiple complaint. All statements from you will be treated as a
complaint and will not ever be resolved as that is your duty to commit to
non-resolution of all complaints. Remember as you are a non-resolver to an
unelected position you should not commit to change anything and only take on
additional complaints, that you do not pass on (or out if you have too many
beers). P.S. – You are probably the only
person reading this too. So may the power of the non-force be with you. P.S. of
the P.S. – the MVP is only 13 weeks away.
