IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter
Week 6 – June 3, 2015
The 1st position round is complete and the
competition has really heated up.
A Division still has Team Buescher in the lead and taking
down defending champs Team Anderson with Team Zachritz moving up to second
place. Team Kiffmeyer suffered another
loss and is sitting comfortable in the bottom of the division and preparing themselves for the fork.
B Division has Team Donlin sitting comfortable in the lead
with a big win over Team Bramlage. Team
Pfeiffer moved to second place even after taking a loss to Team Freeman.
C Division has Team Leirey still in the lead in the Division
and League with Team Patmann still sitting in second place. Team Harms moved to last place as Team
Schumacher (forked) finally moved out of the bottom.
D Division had Team Flynn suffer a big loss but with a slim
lead over Team Halpin, and Team Kientz closing in on
both. Team Breen took over the top of
the upside down list and is moving ever closer to the fork.
Word of caution: If
out on the course and anywhere nearby League President Mr. Schumacher, be aware
that you may get run over by a cart or receive bodily injury from flying debris. Seems Mr. Schu had
his 3 wheel cart on the hill on #2 and went to help a fellow golfer. His cart decided to try and run away
(Note: From the way Mr. Schu was playing I see why the clubs were trying to leave
him). As several players watched the
cart pick-up momentum it tumbled and fell over and there were clubs, balls,
credit cards, etc. flying everywhere. So
if you ever think you are having a bad day someone else had a worse day. Just be glad you didn’t get hit with any
debris.
I had the pleasure of playing against Mr. Eagle Dick Flynn
this week. I was so worried about him
getting another Eagle that by the time we got to 18 for Dick to tie with me he
had to get an Eagle and I had to take a 9.
No Eagle and I took an 8 on the hole.
Sorry Dick maybe next week. I did
get my 1st greenie ever (on #13) and a Birdie, and was 5 under my
average. That is the second week in a row that I shot
in the 40’s on the dreaded back nine.
We had 3 subs this week.
Subs this week were Steve Ruehl, Larry Oliver, and returning to the
league Jim Fish. Welcome back Jim.
Good scores this week were:
Front: Ray Vaughn – 36, Frank
Leirey – 37, Steve Duddey – 38, Mike Donlin – 39, and Don Potter - 39; and Back: Mark Caporale – 38.
Most under average at 5+ under average: Chris Kerns, Sue Kerrick,
Charlie Halpin, and Erich Kientz.
Gift match of the week:
Chuck Reckers shoots 3.7 over average and giving 9 strokes and wins by 4
over Pat Breen.
There were 11 Birdies this week, 5 on the front and 6 on the
back.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt
Most of the regulars and subs in the
league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For
those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the
tables in the clubhouse.
The
sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for
subs to write in their names.
$3.00
entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt ($5.00 for all). Place
a check mark for each category for which you are participating. If the Briefcase is not out notate on your
scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match. First
teams out please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.
