IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter - May 21, 2014

The weather seems to be not good for Wednesday’s.  This week only a short delay but all teams got in their match.  Already the forecast doesn’t look good for next week.  Hope it changes for the better.  Next week, May 28, will be the make-up for the May 14 rain out.

This past week there was some very good rounds and some not so good (I was one of the not so good).  Good was Bill Zachritz and Clayton Doty - 36 on the front, and Larry Oliver and Mark Halpin - 38 on the back.  From what I was told that is Mark’s first 30’s since August 2007.

Other good scores on front were Jim Bramlage 37, and Steve Duddey and Dave Crowell 38.

Team Donlin suffered their 1st loss of the season, Team Anderson is still on a winning streak, and Team Freeman is still hoping for a win.   Note to Team Schumacher: the fork is sharpened and ready.

Father/Son competition between Jimmy Smith and his son Brian was a tie on the round but win goes to Brian by 1 point on holes.  I think Jimmy made Brian walk home.

Division leaders are: A Division – Team Donlin, B Division – Team Breen, C Division – Team Bramlage, and D Division – Team Anderson.

We had 11 subs this past week and one no-show.  Subs were Bonnie Harrison, Brian Smith, Dave Crowell, Jeff Witt, Clayton Doty, Bill Holocher, Dan Varndell, Laura Fitzgerald, Jeff Barnhorst, Mike Schwarberg, and E. John Thomas.  Thanks for being there.

And the following is from League President Tom Schumacher:

Question of the Weak (anyone sending the League Secretary all 16 correct answers will be a candidate for Secretary next year):

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt.  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.
