IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 4 – May 15, 2019

There seemed to be some very slow play on the front & back this past week.  Please be on the tee box ahead of your tee time and play ready golf on the course.

This past week we had 7 subs:   Mike Schwarberg (Team Kientz), Brad Ferguson & Vinny Consola (Team Buescher), Greg Arkle (Team Harms), Kelly Johnson (Team Bramlage), Ken Holloway (Team Flynn), and Tom Berns (Team Vaughn).  Thanks for being there.

Good rounds shot this week were:

Front Nine:  Jim Westcott – 38; Brian (Banderson) Anderson – 38.

Back Nine:  Jim Grassinger – 37; Ray Vaughn – 37; Kevin Bachmann – 37; Tom Schumacher – 39.

Competition between Division A vs Division B and Division C vs Division D is complete.  Looks like Division A and Division C came out the best on points.  Next up is Division A vs Division C and Division B vs Division D.  This puts the two highest scoring divisions against each other and the two lowest scoring divisions against each other.

Most under/over average (5+/-) (Sandbagger of the Weak):

Held off on this until this week so here goes.

Under:

Jack Snowden – shoots 46 (10.0 under average). Wow!!!

Tom Marsh – shoots 40 (9.3 under average).  Wow!!!

Lori Johnson – shoots 51 (7.2 under average).  Wow!!!

Brad Ferguson – shoots 43 (7.0 under average).  Wow!!!

Ed Miller – shoots 40 (6.4 under average).  Wow!!!

Sue Kerrick – shoots 52 (5.6 under average).  Wow!!!

Over:

Dale Goodwin – shoots 57 (7.6 over average).  Oouch!!!

Tom Bishop – shoots 57 (7.4 over average).  Oouch!!!

Clyde Barnes – shoots 54 (7.4 over average).   Oouch!!!

Mark Halpin – shoots 50 (6.9 over average).   Oouch!!!

Boyd Marley – shoots 48 (6.7 over average).   Oouch!!!

Status of the Almighty Fork:

My thoughts were Team Schumacher was going to get Forked but they saved themselves this week.  Maybe next week.

Four weeks in and there seems to be 3 teams stuck at the starting gate and a couple on a very slow start.  The Fork is sharpened and, and, and ready to check for doneness?

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt.  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out, notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.
