IRS Wednesday Golf Leagu:39e Newsletter
Week 4 – May 18, 2016
Wish to say thanks for keeping the
skins/greenies/long putt pot straight this week. Everything came out okay on the pot. Also reminder to lock your
car when out on the course. One
of our subs had some things stolen out of his unlocked car last week.
Position
round is scheduled for June 1 (if no rainout to make up) and Divisions were
pulled out of the hat (Tom Schumacher oversaw Mark Halpin pulling???) for tee
off times. Division A will be first off
the front nine, Division C will be first off the back nine, Division B will be
last off the front nine, and Division D will be last off the back nine. Within the divisions 1st place vs.
2nd place tee first, then 3rd place vs. 4th
place tee next. I’ll have a sheet in the
clubhouse next week to tally the scores to get the exact placing of teams.

We had 9 subs this week. Melody Oswalt (for Team
Freeman), Jeff Barnhorst (for Team Anderson), Steve Ruehl (for Team Bramlage),
Mike Schwarberg (for Team Kientz), Dave Vincent (for Team Breen), Chet Wiggins
(for Team Zachritz), Larry Oliver (for Team Kiffmeyer), Dave Martin (for Team
Flynn), and Ken Holloway (for Team Schumacher).
There was one no-show this week.
Team Schumacher did it again and pulled
out another win (Mr. Fredrickson is unstoppable). With only one week left in May I guess I will
not be able to fork them or maybe I should out of
spite. For now I will wait until after
position round before I use the fork.
Only other team with no losses is Team Kientz (and they did it without
their leader this week). Only one team
with no wins, I won’t mention any names, but Team Buescher might be the first
to get the fork.
Good rounds this week: Front 9 – Bill Zachritz – 39 and Steve Ruehl
– 39, Back 9 – Ray Vaughn – 38 and Larry Oliver – 39.
Chuckle for the week:
Two
friends, Fred and Harry were golfing one fine day. Toward the end of the golf
course, Fred had hit his ball into the woods. Harry, laughed and poked fun, but
then somehow managed to hit his ball into the woods, just a few yards beyond
where Fred has hit his. Fred looked for a long time, getting angrier every
minute. Finally, in a patch of pretty yellow buttercups, he found his ball. Instead
of just continuing the game, he took his club and thrashed every single
buttercup in that patch smashing the weeds to pieces. All of a sudden, in a
flash and puff of smoke, a little old woman appeared. She said, "I'm
Mother Nature! Do you know how long it took me to make those buttercups?! Just
for that, you won't have any butter for your popcorn the rest of your life...
better still; you won't have any butter for your toast for the rest of your
life... as a matter of fact, you won't have any butter for anything the rest of
your life!" Then POOF!... she was gone. After
Fred got a hold of himself, he hollered for his friend, "Harry!... Harry!... where are you?"
Harry yells, "I hit my ball in these damn pussy willows!" Fred
screams back... "DON'T SWING! FOR GOD'S SAKE, DON'T SWING!"

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt
Most of the regulars and subs in the
league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be
a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse. The sheet will have the names of all the
regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $5.00
entry fee for all games ($3.00 entry
fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt).
Place a check mark for each category
for which you are participating. If the
Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when
you complete your match. First teams out
please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.
