IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 4 – May 20, 2015

A Division still has Team Buescher after their 1st loss in the lead.   Team Kiffmeyer holds the bottom.

B Division still has Team Bramlage in the lead.  Team Freeman finally took their 1st win having one no show but the 3 women held strong against Team Zachritz.

C Division had Team Leirey take the lead away from Team Patmann and also go into league leading points.  Team Schumacher finally got their 1st win from Team Halpin.  However since May is almost over Team Schumacher is forked (can’t fork myself).

D Division has Team Flynn still in the lead with Team Breen moving up out of last and Team Kientz moving to the bottom of the division and league.  The fork is ready for them.

We had 10 subs this week.  Subs this week were Don Bazsika, Brian Smith, Bob Kendrach, Greg Arkle, Tony Ciavarella, Melody Oswalt, Larry Oliver, Jaon Studebaker, Carol Goldstone and new sub Izzy Jewell.

Good scores this week were:   Back:  Ray Vaughn – 38 and Larry Oliver – 39.

There were 8 Birdies this week, 3 on the front and 5 on the back.

Info for the 1st position round scheduled for June 3.  Divisions were pulled out of the hat this week.  Thanks Ray.  Front will be C Division 1st tee times, B Division last tee times,  Back nine will be D Division 1st tee times, and A Division last tee times.   (1st and 2nd place go before 3rd and 4th place).  I will have a sheet in the clubhouse next week to finalize the tee times after positions are calculated.

I omitted last week one important bit of information.  Team Kientz was the winner of the Rusty Beer Can Award as they had defeated Team Schumacher.

Some things heard in the Clubhouse:  Seems some years ago there was a player whose golf shoes came apart while playing.  A witness to this event (thanks Chris Kerns) explained how this person took his shoes and socks off and went on to finish his round and win it.  From all of Eric Fredrickson whining this week maybe he was hoping his shoes would come apart again.

And another thing heard in the Clubhouse before going out:  I am told Cecil Begley was waiting at the counter to pay for a cart and had said “what slow play, they should do something about slow pay.”

Something I received about a Millionaire.
 Interviewer to Millionaire:
"To whom do you owe your success as a millionaire?"
Millionaire: "I owe everything to my wife."
Interviewer: "Wow, she must be some woman.
What were you before you married her?"
 Millionaire:
"A Billionaire!"

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt ($5.00 for all).  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.
