IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 03 – May 10, 2023

Condolences to Jimmy and Farlon Smith and their families on the loss of their younger brother Calvin.

Words from Ed Kiffmeyer:  The surgery on right eye went great. The patient survived. Get to do it all again in 2 weeks for the left eye.

We are still one team short and still looking forward to filling it.  If anyone knows of someone wishing to play as a regular, it would be nice to fill the vacant team.  Please ask around and let’s try to fill this team.

Overall, most Recap sheets have been good, however there were some that had minor errors.  Reminder that if white/blue tee is giving strokes to yellow tee then use the gold handicap holes, if yellow tee giving to yellow tee, then use the gold handicap holes, if yellow tee is giving to white/blue tee then use the black handicap holes, and if white/blue tee is giving to white/blue tee then use the black handicap holes.

Another might be good recommendation is to double check the score cards with your opponents.  As I was filling out my team recap thinking my team lost using my teams score card I checked my opponents score card and noticed a difference.  Instead of my team losing by 1 stroke my team won by 1 stroke.  Also good to turn in the correct score cards with the recap sheets.

THOUGHT for the WEAK:   Never badger, attempt to humiliate, or harass the team you think lost the match as it may come back to bite you in the buttocks.  BZ

This past week we had 9 subs playing:  restricted sub Dave Martin (Team Flynn), Jeff Barnhorst (Team Crouch), restricted sub Ken Kostas (Team Kiffmeyer), new sub Jim Earl (Team Bill Anderson), Brian Kelly (Team Brian Anderson), Matt Johnson (Team Bachmann), Joe Bramlage (Team Bramlage), Sherrill Swann (Team Bramlage), and new sub Jason Hedges (Team Bramlage).  Thanks for being there.

Team Kiffmeyer played versus the Vacant Team 12 this week.  Prior to playing Dick Warren pulled Team 8 out of the hat.  For those teams playing versus vacant Team 12 see League Secretary to pull a team number out of the hat.
