IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 3 – May 11, 2016

No rain on golf day finally, although the course was pretty wet in places.

We have a change in regulars on Team Breen.  Dave Spaeth is moving to the sub list and Mike Breen will be a regular on Team Breen.  As soon as Dave gets better he will be able to sub.  For now Get Well Dave.

We had 10 subs this week.  New sub Sherry Anderson (for Team Harms), Jeff Barnhorst (for Team Schumacher), Ken Holloway (for Team Flynn), new sub Lori Johnson (for Team Flynn), new sub Zach Morgan (for Team Bramlage), Terry Buelow (for Team Freeman), Carol Goldstone (for Team Patmann), Chet Wiggins (for Team Zachritz), Jo Diehl (for Team Zachritz),  and new sub Jeff Stieritz (for Team Kientz).

There was one no-show this week.

UPDATE on fundraising for ALS/Alan Berger’s ALS Brigade:

Thanks to those of you who have already made a donation to ALS in Alan’s name!  For those of you who would still like to donate, please use this link to get to Alan’s team webpage:

http://webky.alsa.org/site/TR?pg=team&fr_id=11752&team_id=348520.

In addition to online donations, Team Anderson has an envelope now to collect cash or checks if you don’t want to go through the website.  See them at the golf course on Wednesdays to make your donation.  Thanks for your continued support!!

Envelopes for ALS will be in the brief case at the club house on Wednesday, May 18.

For more info about this devastating disease, please visit the ALS website: www.alsa.org/.

Defending champs Team Schumacher pulled out another big win (again without their leader).  I guess I will not even try to Fork them this year.  Since the Fork is sharpened and ready, warnings are going out to Team Buescher, Team Pfeiffer, and Team Anderson (the shirts didn’t help).  The Fork awaits you and it is only May.

Good rounds this week:  Front 9 – Tim Andrew – 38: Back 9 – nobody home again.

Treasurer report shows everyone is current on dues.  Thanks to all.

Chuckle for the week:

The True Rules Of Golf - Part 1 of 4

·         The game of golf is 90% mental and 10% mental.

·         If you want to get better at golf, go back and take it up at a much earlier age.

·         Since bad shots come in groups of three, a fourth bad shot is actually the beginning of the next group of three.

·         When you look up and cause an awful shot, you will always look down again at exactly the moment when you ought to start watching the ball if you ever want to see it again.

·         Any change works for a maximum of three holes and a minimum of not at all.

·         No matter how bad you are playing, it is always possible to play worse

·         Never keep more than 300 separate thoughts in your mind during your swing.

·         When your shot has to carry over a water hazard, you can either hit one more club or two more balls.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

The pot was short this past week ($15).  Please be careful when putting money in and taking change out.

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt.  For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names.  $5.00 entry fee for all games ($3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt).  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.
