IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 02 – May 3, 2023

A little bit cool weather this week and from the scores it looked like most rounds were chilled.  Only two Birdies on the front nine (one for a skin) and one birdie on the back nine.  There were 6 skins on the back nine and all were pars.

We are still one team short and still looking to fill it.  If anyone knows of someone wishing to play as a regular, it would be nice to fill the vacant team.  Please ask around and let’s try to fill this team.

This past week we had 2 subs get in the games.  There will be no more random entering the games as the skins sheet will not be out.  Any other regulars wanting to enter in the games need to see the League Secretary prior to playing.  Currently we have 23 players in Skins, 28 in Greenies, and 31 in Long Putt.

This past week we had 8 subs playing:  Phil Hurley (Team Zachritz), Joe Bramlage (Team Bramlage), Brian Kelly (Team Brian Anderson), Don Bazsika (Team Snowden), new subs Bob Norris and Chas Faris (Team Buescher) and restricted subs Cindy Ellsworth (Team Bill Anderson) and Ken Kostas (Team Kiffmeyer).  Thanks for being there.

Team Bill Anderson played versus the Vacant Team 12 this week.  After playing Bill Anderson pulled Team 4 out of the hat.  For those teams playing versus vacant Team 12 see League Secretary to pull a team number out of the hat.

I do have to give the Sandbagger of the Weak Award to Mike Breen for shooting way over his average.  I almost didn’t buy his excuse of a torn leg muscle he got while refereeing a soccer game, although it did sound like the reason for the high score.  Hope he gets better soon.

And here are get well wishes to Ed Kiffmeyer (having eye surgery) and Ron Michael (sodium levels out of whack).   Hope to see you both at the course soon.

We have two new players willing to sub:

Bill Mappin – phone: 859-992-6371  email:  Bill.Mappin@gmail.com
