IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 2 – May 4, 2016

Week 2 and we still get rain on the course.  Hope that is not a thing for every week.  Course management was mentioning about slow play on the back nine.  Remember to play ready golf.

Welcome back Jim Fish to being a regular on Team Bramlage.  Oh that reminds me about fish out of water, must be why we keep getting rained on.

We had 7 subs this week.  Carol Goldstone (for Team Patmann), Melody Oswalt (for Team Freeman), Mike Breen (for Team Breen), Ken Holloway (for Team Flynn), new sub Dave Martin (for Team Flynn), Steve Ruehl (for Team Donlin), and Bill Holocher (for Team Harms).

UPDATE on fundraising for ALS/Alan Berger’s ALS Brigade:

Thanks to those of you who have already made a donation to ALS in Alan’s name!  For those of you who would still like to donate, please use this link to get to Alan’s team webpage:

http://webky.alsa.org/site/TR?pg=team&fr_id=11752&team_id=348520.

In addition to online donations, Team Anderson has an envelope now to collect cash or checks if you don’t want to go through the website.  See them at the golf course on Wednesdays to make your donation.  Thanks for your continued support!!

For more info about this devastating disease, please visit the ALS website: www.alsa.org/.

Defending champs Team Schumacher did it again and pulled out another big win and this time with the Colonel.  The fork is still being sharpened.

And for those who like statistics here is one for you.  Only 8 of the 16 teams won their match this week.  To top that off only 50% of the teams won their match last week.

Good rounds this week:  Front 9 – Mark Caporale – 38: Back 9 – nobody home.

Treasurer Chuck Reckers reports only 3 regulars are still outstanding on dues.

Chuckle for the week:

A man received text message from his neighbor:

"Sorry sir, I am using your wife, day and night when you aren't home.  I'm confessing this to you because I feel very guilty. I hope you will accept my sincere apology".

The man was so angry he killed his wife.

A few minutes later he received another text message:

"Damn auto correct!  Sorry sir, spelling mistake, wi fi - not wife".

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt.  For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names.  $5.00 entry fee for all games ($3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt).  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.
