IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter

Week 1 – April 24, 2019

Prayers and condolences go to the George Baker family.  George was a long-time member of the league and passed away suddenly on April 6.

Prayers for a speedy recovery for Charlie Patmann.  Charlie is having shoulder surgery and currently cannot play.  Hope to see Charlie on the course before the season is over.

Prayers for Jimmy Smith and his family as Jimmy’s wife, Ruth, is very ill.

Condolences to Chuck Reckers and family on the loss of Chuck’s mother, Margaret Reckers, on March 28th.

This past week we had 5 subs:  Kelly Johnson (Team Schumacher), welcome new sub Tom Berns (Team Vaughn), Bob Kendrach (Team Halpin), Rick Taylor (Team Patmann), and Steve Ruehl (Team Bramlage).  Thanks for being there.

Restricted subs playing this week were Ken Kostas (Team Kiffmeyer) and Charlie Olliges (Team Bramlage).

New players to the teams:  welcome to Andy Proeschel to Team Patmann, Jack Snowden from sub to regular on Team Patmann, and Jim Conrady from sub to regular on Team Harms.

Good rounds shot this week were:  Jim Bramlage - 37, Steve Ruehl - 37, Mark Slye – 39, and Lee Crouch – 39.

Treasurer Chuck Reckers reports that 53 league members paid their first installment or are full paid.  Thanks to those members.

Please be careful when marking which holes someone is getting strokes on.  Several errors this week.  If giving strokes to someone on the white tees, then use the handicap holes in black.  If giving strokes to someone on the forward (yellow) tees, then use the handicap holes in gold.  Mike Breen used his automated recap which caught errors on the cards.  Thank you, Mike, for catching those errors.

Putt of the Weak:

This had to be Mike Breen with a 3 ˝ foot putt for a Birdie and misses.

Heard in the Clubhouse:

Then there is Mr. Slice (Tom Mullett).  Not from the way he hits the ball, but from the way he sliced his thumb.  From what I hear he spent time in the dog house because his wife missed Game of Thrones while she had him at the hospital.  My recommendation is he stay out of the kitchen.

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt

Most of the regulars and subs in the league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse.  The sheet will have the names of all the regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt.  Place a check mark for each category for which you are participating.  If the Briefcase is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you complete your match.  First teams out please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.
