IRS Wednesday Golf League Newsletter
Week 1 – April 27, 2016
Another
year underway, welcome back to all.
Rain made for some rough play but we
managed to play through it. Hope that is
it for this year.
Welcome to the league is new regular
Greg Linfert on Team Buescher.
We had 6 subs this week. Mike Schwarberg (for Team Schumacher), Melody
Oswalt (for Team Leirey), Dave Vincent (for Team Donlin), Pat Breen (for Team
Breen), Carol Goldstone (for Team Patmann), and new sub Ken Holloway (for Team
Flynn).
There was one no show due to a
family emergency.
Get well wishes go out to Bill
Brewer. Bill had an accident with his
lawn tracker and got himself all beat up.
Hope you get well soon Bill.
As you may have heard, Alan Berger
of Team Anderson has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig Disease, ALS. On
Saturday May 21 there will be an ALS Walkathon. Team Anderson would like
to solicit contributions from our league for ALS on Alan’s behalf. If you
would like to give, please provide your contribution to either Brian Anderson
or Tim Feldman at
the course. Thank you.
Condolonces to the Charlie McCaughan family. Charlie McCaughan passed away February 23, 2016. He was a long time member of our league years
ago.
So the competition has started and
defending champs Team Schumacher (minus their leadership) managed to pull out a
big win. Mr. Fredrickson’s request to be
forked will be overlooked at this time since I need to see if Colonel Schu will earn the fork.
Team Schumacher was out done by Team Kientz in points this week but by
June 8 when they take each other on they may both be forked.
Good rounds this week: Front 9 – Jay Ackerman – 37, Ray Vaughn – 39,
and Steve Duddey – 39; Back 9 – Jim Westcott – 39.
I haven’t received the treasurer
report on dues, but to those who paid a big
thanks. For those who still have to pay
the fee is $353.50 for entire year or $205 1st payment and $148.50
by June 29th.
And forwarded to me by Mr. Feldman that he received from Mr.
Hank Broge:
The room was full of pregnant women with their
husbands.
The instructor said," Ladies, remember that
exercise is good for you. Walking is especially beneficial. It strengthens the
pelvic muscles and will make delivery that much easier. Just pace yourself,
make plenty of stops and try to stay on a soft surface like grass or a
path."
“Gentlemen, remember -- you're in this together.
It wouldn't hurt you to go walking with her. In fact, that shared experience
would be good for you both."
The room suddenly became very quiet as the men
absorbed this information. After a few moments a man, name unknown, at the back
of the room, slowly raised his hand.
"Yes?" said the Instructor.
“I was just wondering if it would be all right,
if she carries a golf bag?”
Brings a tear to your eye, doesn't it?
This level of sensitivity can't be taught!

Skins—Greenies—Long Putt
Most of the regulars and subs in the
league know about Skins, Greenies, and Long Putt. For those that do not, each week there will be
a sheet and a box on one of the tables in the clubhouse. The sheet will have the names of all the
regulars and blank lines at the bottom for subs to write in their names. $5.00 entry fee for all games ($3.00 entry fee for Skins; $1.00 entry fee
for Greenies and $1.00 entry fee for Long Putt). Place a check mark for each category for which
you are participating. If the Briefcase
is not out notate on your scorecard your intent to play and pay when you
complete your match. First teams out
please take the markers, last teams in please bring markers in.
